I have 9 days left, and £53.24 to do it in - and I can't see any problem in doing that.
All my main meals are in the freezer, I have over a weeks bread in there too, and at least 3 days milk, sandwich fillings and fruit. Hoping not to shop again until Tuesday - if I can do that, then I'll have it crackedDFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
A bit off topic but DH & I were watching a programme on BBC2 last night about how the Royal Navy formed from the 1600's onwards. The presenter went onto a modern day warship and talked about the amount of money & food needed to stock the ship for 90 days. The Head Chef said that it cost between £150,000 and £200,000 to do it for everything. I said that that would be a heck of a Grocery Challenge to do0

More spending again today, but not GC - (ie food & house stuff), thank goodness!
Jeans for DS2 - he's wearing out so much stuff atm. Good deal though - £12 from Peacocks, not sure how we managed that, it's usually £20 - £30, not complaining though! New rugby boots also for DS2 - £79.99 , but reduced from £129.99!!! (old ones bust and need ones for Scotland U-17s trials next weekend). The boots are counting as part of his birthday present.
We also went to a nearby nursery's potato day and bought lots of spuds to grow this year. Normally this would come out of the GC budget, but we have decided to use some of the Xmas money we got from my Dad and DH's Mum - cunning eh!!!We plan on using the rest to buy a damson tree in the next month or so...once we have the area ready for it to be planted...that is!
Of to have a nice sit-down and read through bumphf from a local college where DS2 was considering transferring to do his A2s there. This could be tricky as they are not using the same examination boards as he is for his As's at school - we will have to investigate further. He is keen to go as he wants to play more rugby, which this college does (Gloucester team trains there, so great facilities)...we will have to see.
Plan on having a complete NSD tomorrow - DH taking DS2 to play rugby (what else!) while I plan on making bread, marmalade, buns and flapjacks.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.

When they said how much that was per head (£3.21 a day comes to mind) - I thought 'there'll be an OSer somewhere thinking "I can do that cheaper" :rotfl:DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
Hi everyone :hello:
Did the rounds today, £8.91 in L!dl, £2 in £land and £4.69 in corner shop (offers), so have updated sig. Will still need bread next week, so looks like I will be over budget by a small amount. Not too bad I guess, but was really hoping to come in under. Oh well, there's always next month...
Sausage, egg and chips tonight for tea, nothing like a fry-up to put a smile on yer face!
Have a good evening all, think I will be doing next week's meal plans!

I have updated my signature with the actual Mr S spend, the 30 for the milkman and the 10 taken out to pay for the window cleaner and next weeks milk bill.Sealed pot member 735

Well I've just updated my siggy and we're completely busted this month, but I'm not surprised as I did reduce our budget from £350 to £200, bit drastic but I wanted to see what would happen, we've got 6 days till payday and all we need is milk and f&v so we'll see, we have freezers bursting with food so we should be able to contain the damage aslong as we come in under £250 then I'm happy. Our spend does include £8 on handwash cos its on offer in MrT and lots of sugar cos its on offer in MrM but we spent the money now so I include it now. I'm going to have to think about Febs budget as DH has changed jobs and pay at end of Jan will be poo.
Hope you've all had a nice Saturday and that you all have a sparkly Sunday

Well I've gone over budget again. I think I gave myself too many treats to help me revise and then too many treats to celebrate passing my exam! Went to Mr T today and managed to spend £21.42. Last night I'm written a mealplan and shopping list, but instead of grabbing the shopping list when leaving for the supermarket I grabbed the mealplan, and as a consequent didn't buy everything I needed. Who knows how I'm going to make a spanish omelette without any eggs? Oh well I'll just have to pick some up while I'm out tomorrow.Mortgage-free wannabe 2025 £571/30000

Ive had a few spends-a couple of treats which were for myself-non grocery but counted in my budget all the same. When I say treats they werent what many would call treats but I think they will be moneysaving! One was the pedi-egg and at a tenner its expensive BUT it is fantastic! It will save me buying those expensive foot creams at £4 a go which arent working. Problem solved in 2 nights!
Secondly I bought the bobble-off to rejuvenate my jumpers and fleeces. Again-it actually works but Im using recharegeable batteries as I think it will use a lot. Ive already saved 2 fleeces and a bobbly jumper which had only been washed a couple of times so again-the £6 was well spent. Im always suspicious of small gadgets as generally they prove useless. Also went to Iceland Friday for a topup and spent £16. New spend is £429.07 so its going to be tight with only £71 for the next 8 days. I will tot up at the end of the month how much of that was food and how much was everything else-including fence panels. DH now says we need roof tar for the garage and thats £40 but the garage will leak otherwise. I may just have to go into next months budget a little but it does even out eventually over the year.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0
