    Hi everyone :hello:

Hugs to those that need them and sorry to hear about the redundancies, thinking of you :grouphug:

Yet another NSD for me, I'm feeling soooo virtuous! Dinner was chicken and veg from freezer and DH made some of his fab mini roasties, yum!

Going for a L!dl shop tomorrow just to get the last few bits for the month. Will need to be creative with the little money I have left ;)

Might as well declare my £200 for February while I'm here too! This month/challenge has definitely shown me that I was spending way too much money before, so big thanks to all of you for showing me the error of my ways :T

Hope everyone has a fab evening!

That should be it now till (hopefully) payday tues. Am praying i get paid as only started here 4 jan and not sure if i will have to wait till Feb, hoping and praying not. My manager assures me i will be paid but im being cautious. My savings are nearly gone after the last few months and im not sure how we can get through another month now, especially since all our benefits were stopped as soon as i told them about my new job:(. Even a couple of weeks salary is better than nowt.

However im sure i can feed us from freezer and cupboards with a mish mash of recipes for the most of Feb and concentrate on diesel to actually get to work!

I am off work untill wed when i am back on long days wed, thurs and two half shifts at weekend so will make up some soup and meal plan another week or so.

Off to eat the tea i took to work yesterday but didnt have time to eat-chickpeas and tinned mackeral in tomato sauce-yep, storecupboard surprise:)

    Good night x

PS Welcome back Mrs M hope you are much better, thanks Helen Jelly for keeping thread on track:T

OK I have worked out what went wrong with the bread. I apparently bought yeast that is for handbaked bread and therefore needs reactivating before use. I didnt do this, so result - bread that hasbnt really risen.

Anyone know if it will be ok to eat? And what I might be able to do with it??

    Ruth

Well its a case of taste it and see! It isnt going to harm you-it just may not taste right. Slice a little off-its probably rather dense. Butter it and see if its ok.

AAArgh, that serves me right in being complacent about my spending!

I have spent soo much today...and have gone over GC budget by 36p with 9 days to go!
:( Mind you, I shouldn't have to buy much (if anything more) until February starts, with the possible exception of milk, though I do have 2 litres of UHT as back-up, and I do have enough jumbo oats to do us two months-worth of porridge, muesli and flapjacks!!, as well as enough peanut butter to do DS2 for at least 3 months...so hopefully things will even out later in the year.

DH is taking DS2 up north to Scotland for rugby training/trials next weekend - he is hoping to get picked to play for Scotland Under-17s, it is so exciting! DH will be staying at his mum's and will be getting paid travelling expenses (result!). DS2 is being looking after by the coaching squad along with all the other lads...so no expense there thank goodness. I will provide him with plenty of healthy (and some high sugar) snacks though, as he is diabetic and will need supplies, especially if he goes hypo.

So a thorough search of all food cupboards, fridge and freezer again this weekend to make a complete menu plan for next week...I wonder if I can manage no GC spending for the rest of the month...sounds like a challenge!!

Hope everyone has a good (and low/no spending!) weekend.

  • Evening all,
Spent another £12 in Tesco today, on more bits n bobs  I am much better when I can avoid the shops altogether! Had to go in for Dad, and couldn't resist picking up a few things. Did also put a few back though - so guess it could have been worse ;) Can't wait till payday on Wed, hasn't this been the longest month EVER!

This money saving is addictive only a week left till payday now and over £50 left in kitty as my son who is 3 is starting school next week i think il stick to my same amount for feb but include his dinner money in with this budget hence saving me £30 quid a month elsewhere, spent £13 in tesco today on bits and pieces huge clearance aisle selling everything really cheap had the ambipure triple refills for 20p and polish the same so house is shining and smelling lush for a few months lol. O and hubby made a lovely duck dinner with the £1.50 whoopsie from coop today bargain ! nite all x

  • morning all. Got my Mr S order delivered last night and using my 10 voucher from last late delivery is came to 25 pounds and a few pennies. Will update the signature later. I have gone over budget though as the milkman showed up for the first time in 10 weeks! I am going to start chucking a few pounds in a tin each week as these big spends when he can be bothered to show up are really hurting my budgets.

  • Ok, so I know I've not made this time's Grocery Challenge budget so could you please put me down for £200.00 for February? This will be for DH and I as I cannot manage to get it below that figure, it seems! Thanks, Helen Jelly for doing a great job, and welcome back Mrs M!

Not brilliant for me, am over budget but never mind - my GC ends next Saturday, 30 January so still have another shop to do next week - oh well - hopefully won't need much next week and then can start again for January.

Good luck to everyone who needs it .. :rotfl:

Havent updated for a little while but i am really pleased with the way things are going this month still have approx £45 left for the rest of the month and really only need some things from the butchers which will come to about £12-£14. I havent thrown out much this month, and the freezer is looking a little emptier than usual which is fine as i will get a big shop done next week end from the Ferbruary budget.
Have had a butternut squash sitting in the fridge since christmas so have decided today that this has to be used (hope its ok) so I am just going to make some soup from it and some HM bread so there will be very litttle spent today.
hope you have a good day,
    Every days a School day!
