Failed Driving Test

Yeah I have to ring first thing tomorrow to find out if it is cancelled. Then I have to wait for the official cancellation letter with a new test date and then try and get a cancellation. Mind you I might just cancel altogether and look for another instructor.0

Don't give up hope just yet! I did my test yesterday, and only the first few tests of the day were cancelled. Although, I guess it depends how bad the weather is where you are in the country. I'm pretty sure most (if not all) of the ones in my area today will have been cancelled, but that doesn't mean the same for tomorrow.
Do you have a lesson beforehand?
Unless its really bad, I doubt they will cancel all tests of the day... but rather access the situation as the day progresses.
It also depends on the test centre apparently according to my instructor. Some are more likely to cancel tests compared to others based on his experience.0 -
Well surprise surprise my test was cancelled. They have given me a new test date of 15th feb which I cant make so will have to change anyway so looking at cancellations. They cancelled all test wed thurs fri and sat. They have a cancellation available for tuesday bu OH cant have the day off to look after the kids and it will probably be cancelled anyway. I cant believe I have to wait another month!!0

If you had taken the test and failed, I suspect you would be posting on here asking if you could appeal because you had to do it in dangerous driving conditions...If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0 -
Look at the cancellation as more time to practise. If you can find an empty car park with space markings, you could use that to help you, if you can reverse straight into that space, the road will be easy.
I was lucky as I had to carry out the manoeuvre every time I drove into my street to park outside my house.
My advise is when you come to the test, if you have to do the reverse round a corner, if you feel the car is getting away from you, stop, reposition the car and carry on. You won't get marked down for it, and will show you are aware of your surroundings and safety of yourself and other people.
Good luckSometimes i surprise myself by being right.0 -
I know it couldnt go ahead in this weather but it is still gutting when I have waited 8 weeks and now have to wait a further 5 weeks for my test. I dont think there was any need for your comment briona but if it makes you feel better!!
Now just waiting for the snow to clear so I can get out there and practice. My lesson on Tuesday went fab and all manoeuvres went perfectly so I was really ready for this test.0 -

Strange that you feel like that, I thought the comments from Briona were valid and well intentioned.0 -

Three years ago (this week), I had to do a test in horrendous driving conditions – absolutely torrential rain with very poor visibility, which was not helped by drivers blasting past me on the dual carriageway and throwing tidal waves at my windscreen. Guess what? I failed. Not surprising really considering I had never driven in such conditions before – my driving lessons scheduled for similar days had always been cancelled by mutual agreement.
I would have been happy for the test centre to cancel my test. Unfortunately for me, they made the decision AFTER I'd done my test. The rest of the day's tests were cancelled and I had wasted another £100 (test plus two hour driving lesson/borrowing of instructor's car).

I took a break from driving for a couple of months, found myself a new instructor who got me to practise all the things I was struggling with (including driving in poor weather conditions) and I passed! If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0
