High chair recommendations

For longevity, I would suggest the stokke tripp trapp. I know its more than you had intended to spend but you can pick them up second hand on Ebay. We arrived at the tripp trapp a bit late having only just bought one for our nearly five year old as she was struggling on a normal chair at the table and it is so fab. We intend to get one for the bubs due in March for when he is ready to be weaned.
We originally had one of the usual suspects that folds up with its own tray but found it hard to feed DD properly and she grew out of it when she was still quite young. She has since used a normal adult chair but has to either sit on cushions that slide around or on her knees to eat. It just looked so uncomfy and she was always complaining that her knees hurt. Now she sits at the table at the perfect height to eat dinner (so much less mess) and do her homework and crafts. She is so much more comfortable and the chair is so much easier to push into the table than a normal dining chair (especially as I am 6 months PG)."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -
oh sorry, another recommendation, I was concentrating on high chairs rather than all options... I replaced my very first, unwieldy, conventional high chair with first years booster seat which actually makes a very good high chair but is also very portable. When I went to stay with MIL for a few months I took one of these with me but couldn't use it on her wicker chairs, which is why we got the antilop. But it's worth considering, especially if you have very little room.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

My bubs is by no means small he is already in 6-9 month clothes and he loves to sit up but cant quite balance himself on his own so has to have support would this chair still be suitable for him granted he wont need it for another month and alot of development will occur i just wondered ?
We have the ikea ones in the coffee shop (with tray and padded seat pad) and DD now sits in it for short periods of time. The inflatable pad is a load of crap (sorry), its uncomfy and I can never get it to sit right. I use a blanket to line the chair and pad the back a lot because her neck is in line with the top of the back. It can be a wriggle to get her legs in and out because there isn't much room, but as a high chair it's actually quite good and very easy to clean. I always trip over the stupid legs though.
I'm now stuck between my bebe confort woodline and just getting an ikea chair for now. An Ikea chair means a trip to ikea and a trip to ikea means I may as well get the wardrobes I wanted for the kids room and a few of those candles and probably a new light fitment since the one in the kids room is broken... so it may end up costing a bit more than £15 :rotfl:0 -
Another vote for the ikea chair - I'm onto my 3rd child and have had the all singing all dancing highchairs. i now have an ikea one and I love it! I've encountered abit of snobbery from one particular baby friend who has to have the most expensive everything for her baby. They bought one of those padding monstrosities and gave a few comments about my baby being uncomfortable in his 'basic' chair. Well how long exactly do they sit in a high chair?? 10 mins at a time usually. It always cheers me when I go round and see her highchair caked in food (gross!) and taking up half of the space in the kitchen
I love the fact that I just spritz dettol on mine, give it a quick wipe and viola! MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

Hi, Seen your post for high chair have to recommend the Bloom Fresco range, pricey but they are the best on the market. We got ours last month.xmaslolly76 wrote: »Hiya Ladies
Right i am looking for a high chair for my bubs he wont need for about another months or so but wanted to get some opinions on whats available.
Ive never used a high chair before as i always thought they weren't very safe. my younger brother toppled his over once but that was years and years ago now so thought i would take the plunge as things have obviously moved on alot since then and our mother wasnt exactly the the greatest most conciensious mother there was.
I am after one that is height adjustable well padded and also has variable seat positions. Looking at paying no more than £100 but the cheaper the better as long as it is good quality.
My older two always had the booster type chairs that we only used on the floor but we are having a proper dining table soon and we will all be sitting round that to eat so would like bubs to join us.
Thanks for your help :-)0 -
