High chair recommendations

Hiya Ladies

Right i am looking for a high chair for my bubs he wont need for about another months or so but wanted to get some opinions on whats available.

Ive never used a high chair before as i always thought they weren't very safe. my younger brother toppled his over once but that was years and years ago now so thought i would take the plunge as things have obviously moved on alot since then and our mother wasnt exactly the the greatest most conciensious mother there was.

I am after one that is height adjustable well padded and also has variable seat positions. Looking at paying no more than £100 but the cheaper the better as long as it is good quality.

My older two always had the booster type chairs that we only used on the floor but we are having a proper dining table soon and we will all be sitting round that to eat so would like bubs to join us.

Thanks for your help :-)

We have this one. Not used it yet as Rhys is still on the dinky side, but it came highly recommended and has won lots of awards :)

Steer clear of the Red Kite one, we have that one and the clip that attaches the shoulder strap to the waist strap snapped off, and their customer services department doesnt pick up the phone or reply to emails, so we arent looking likely to get a replacement!

Only thing i do advise is strap covers, they are much easier to wash than the webbed straps!!

  • We had this one (in gingham!) We got it second hand and passed it on still in excellent condition. It reclines for the inevitable sleepy baby nodding his head in his rice crispies! It folds away easily. It's right on budget!

The different heights were more useful than I anticipated too. Really lovely chair.

I meant to add - there was no way that thing was going to get tipped over!
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

We used the Ikea Antilop high chair with DS from when he was about 16 weeks. It costs about £12 for the basic chair and about £3 for the tray, which we didn't bother with as it was just the right height for our table. Far and away the best baby bargain I've ever had. DS has just turned four and was only out of it afew weeks ago, although he has always been on the small side.

When we had DD (she's the eldest), FIL bought us a high chair (a Chicco one I think) and it was all singing, all dancing, padded, reclining, height went up and down, and it was the worst thing we ever had. I was so glad to get rid of it. It was massive, even folded it took up huge space in my kitchen, and was a nightmare to clean, I used to have to take a toothpick to get the food out of all the nooks and crannies. By contrast, the Antilop only takes a quick spray over with some antibac spray and it's done.

Honestly, I can't recommend it enough. My two missions in life are to get everyone to have an antilop highchair, and never to waste money on a baby bath but to buy a washing up bowl to bath baby in. :D

    Jxx
And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

I had hat one for dd1 and hated it, it was massive and a nightmare to clean because of all the creases.

For dd2 Im going to get something smaller, cheaper and easier to clean. Ive heard nothing but good things about one from ikea (not the one that they just recalled! ;)) and for about £20 I think Ill go for that

Ive just seen the post above, I agree with her!

I second the Ikea chair - its been great!! Ok so it doesn't look as fancy as some others and it doesn't fold away but the ease of cleaning it makes up for everything!

I agree with the Ikea chair being the best!! We had an expensive one for dd - again food stuck in crevices etc etc. I never had cause to recline it to let my dd sleep in it -ever!! It took up a lot of room, the straps looked grubby and never fitted under our table. Once dd was sick a bit in it and the smell just could not be got rid of, despite lots of cleaning. We went on holiday and used the ikea antilop and vowed to buy one on our return. Never looked back - it lasted for ds too - just got a new tray for it (about £4 ish!!). Don't waste your money - go to ikea!

We have this one too, We bought the chicco one above in a different colour originally but it developed a fault and we took it back and marched straight to ikea to buy thier one. A much better easier to clean highchair and £80 left from my refund! Its the best highchair ever!:D
