High chair recommendations

I don't have an Ikea anywhere near, so I went for the Fisher Price Healthy Care one, and have been very pleased with it. It's lasted for both my kids and is still going strong. Very easy to clean and to use, and there's no way it would tip over.
I've had no real experience of other highchairs as we were always happy with the FP one, I would recommend it to others.0 -
Can i ask how does a small baby cope with the ikea one were you able to use it ok? My bubs is by no means small he is already in 6-9 month clothes and he loves to sit up but cant quite balance himself on his own so has to have support would this chair still be suitable for him granted he wont need it for another month and alot of development will occur i just wondered ?:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

DS was always small for his age (still is) as he was five weeks early, but he never had a problem in it. You can get a cushion type thing to go with it if you're worried about him slipping about, but my DS never had a problem with it. Actually DD had more problems with her expensive one as in the early days she'd occasionally jerk her head forward and clunk the front of it.

We had the ikea antilop chair, and like everyone else we loved it. If you're worried about bubs needing support, you can buy an inflatable insert ( which we had):

We used the Ikea Antilop high chair with DS from when he was about 16 weeks.
Honestly, I can't recommend it enough. My two missions in life are to get everyone to have an antilop highchair, and never to waste money on a baby bath but to buy a washing up bowl to bath baby in.

LOL - I was coming in here to say save your money and buy the Antilop - we love ours!! I hate it when we go out to restaurants and they have fancy highchairs that DSS slips about and slips down in, in the antilop he has always sat up nicely....although he likes to turn around and face backwards these days
Honestly, go to Ikea and sit bubs in one in the cafe, they are ace.
We have an expensive mothercare highchair in the garage that my SIL donated from my nephews, it will stay there!!please listen to MFD - she is a wise woman

We have the Ikea one for my DS at my dad's house, for when we visit, it's alright but it's very very basic and won't last him that long.
At home we have the Stokke Tripp Trapp http://www.backinaction.co.uk/tripptrappbuy it's fabulous. It'll also take the weight (in chair mode) a fully grown adult. It doesn't come with a tray as it encourages baby/child to sit up at the table and be involved with everyone else.,___,

I think I've had more than my fair share of highchairs and IMHO most of them are highly overrated. Things to avoid like the plagues are fixed padded covers and anything with crevices, ridges or corners that can get full of [STRIKE]concrete [/STRIKE]weetabix LOL
Good ones were the Ikea Antilop as rightly praised several times above and, at the other end of the scale the Stokke TrippTrapp which my 12 yr old now uses. I've not found the cheaper copies of this as good as the original, but if you bide your time you can pick up second hand ones for £70-90 including baby rail on ebay.
My current one for DS2 is another Stokke model called the Sitti and I love it to bits, it's easier to adjust and clean than the tripp trapp and because the sides are open and the crotch/waist bar/straps can be fitted after the child is in place it's brilliant if you struggle to lift and control a baby (though I would recommend modifying with a couple of D-rings to hold a traditional harness if your baby likes to escape. Getting hold of these is more difficult as they aren't as popular as tripp-trapps and aren't marketed as high chairs in the UK. I got my chair second hand off ebay and obtained the baby harness as a special order from backinaction.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Depends what you're after. Something like the Tripp Trapp will, as you say take the weight of an adult and is built to last. But now that DS is out of the Antilop he just uses the same chairs we do, so it's lasted him for as long as he needed it, and if we had another child (which we're not going to do, but hypothetically) then there'd be plenty of wear in it for another child.

I'm still using the Babydan I got when DS2(9) was little. You can get a liner/cushion for it as well but he's got a seat cushion on it now.
It's so strong - my dad always sits on it when he comes round and doesn't even creak!Noli nothis permittere te terere
