I think I may need that Ripstop stuff too.!
I have been to see the lady in the little shop who was interested in my sewing. I made her a bunting with the shops name on, and took her down a selection of the things that I had sewn and still had. (from the craft stall last year at my old village.). She was happy with my things, and showed me the types that she wanted, and suggested a few things that I didnt have. She wanted one of the bags I made to be lined with waterproof, so that it could be aimed as a nappy bag!. I was thinking of using the shower curtaining that i have, but maybe some of this Ripnylon will be easier to manage. mmm.
I came over all funny this afternoon and so instead of sewing I had to go to bed while I had some child care.
I shall be back in bed very soon I think.

  • I have been making some sundresses for my granddaughter and desperately need some reasonable priced buttons - anyone have any website they would recommend? Thanks

I posted the above link in no chat sewing thread... has anyone used rip stop nylon?

Just a word of warning, your plastic (ripstop?) lining should be made of a food grade fabric/plastic coating. There is a good article about it somewhere, trying to find it as I type!

    Sarah:D

Not sure if this is the article I was talking about, but it has the info.. http://4girlsdesignsblog.blogspot.com/2009/04/reusable-sandwich-bags-and-wraps-are.html

Does anyone know where to get the correct substance for food then? Here in the UK anyway?
although I am not making food bags at the moment, it was a thought for the future.

I can honestly say that i order from these fortnightly and haven't had a problem. When your ordering though you need to read it proparly as it sometimes tells you how many they have in stock (well it always does :D) but on Pre-Order items it will say Pre-order. If your not looking for it then it can be easily missed.
It's only pre-order items that have taken a few weeks for me to recieve. My latest being their Minky fabrics.
I wouldnt use anyone else as taking for example the minky fabrics for less than £2 per FQ is amazing :T
Hope you all get the problems sorted out. Maybe best to email them or re-check your order and look for 'pre-order' xx

I have checked my order and none of it was pre order either. I wouldn't mind a wait for stock if I was kept informed. I am very disappointed with the service. I am going to try one more email and say that if I do not get a reply, I will be informing paypal.

The choice and the prices were both very good, but this experience has totally put me off using the website.

Oh it's great when it works but other than that- shocking stuff! And DH is incapable of using the side of the box so he fannies around with it and wrecks the roll. So you have a twisted mess where you can't find an end!

it must be a man thing my dh is the same swears at the damn thing and gets cross!

i bought one from tesco last week think its by bakeofoil plastic you lift the lid pull out what you need and close the lid and it chops it off, he seems to be able to manage that one:rotfl:

I have not realy wanted to do food bags as I was never sure if the fabrics were safe enough but the site has realy helped :D

hmo :D I brought one of those cling film boxes a while back and now just get the refills and they are so much easier to use :D

I still didn't get around to making that make-up bag with the rip stop :( my friend came round for a coffee :)

It will be Saturday now before I can sew again so will make one then :D

http://www.fabricuk.com/fabrics.php?fabric_type=218#dataform £4.99 per metre for PU coated nylon. I've spent a little time looking around :o.
I think that this is going to be something I will add to my to do list. It would be great to actually be able to gift these to people at Christmas time as most of the family take sandwiches with them to school and work. I'm definately going to make them for my two anyway.
