Wow zombiecazz, that tutorial is great. She's used some amazing fabrics. I fancy making a bag like that - is it very time consuming?

Just got this book from the library...Get The Most From Your Sewing Machine by Marion Elliot.
The blurb says that it has smart tips, funky ideas and original projects for any machine......and it has.
    Thought someone might be interested....

They don't take too long. I tack mine then sew the folded band round the edge with whip stitch. Then I tack the tacking stitch out. The embroidery can be as fancy or plain as you like. I tend to do it while watching TV or sitting on buses etc. Easy enough to carry around in a zip lock.

    Hello ladies,

I keep popping in from time to time but I haven't got round to making much...! My sewing machine is sat next to me waiting to be used! I'm a little scared lol!
Dearme - your blog is fab, I am now a follower!
Kandi - You owl bags are gorgeous, I also love owls and could do with a little purse to protect my phone, Could you give me an idea of sizes for me to follow? x

I am also looking for a very basic tutorial to help me make a shopping bag, I'm sure I had one saved in my favourites but it's disappeared! x

Can anyone tell me how difficult patchwork is. I would love to try it but actually wouldnt know where to start. Do you have to sew every single square together in a line with a sewing machine and then sew other lines of squares to it and so on....I honestly havent got a clue but wondering if I would quite like it once I got started.....

Also, what are those scissors called that make zig zag lines when you cut fabric to stop it fraying. I thought it was pinking shears but now Im not sure! (Brain went into neutral when I got home from work!!)

Hi Craftgirl! I think you responded to my post on the cards forum. Am no longer convinced if I will be any good at it as I gave it a bash at the weekend and they were awful!!)

Im following your blog, might give me some inspiration to percevere. x

Right, I finally have a functional sewing machine that I managed to thread all by myself, lol.

I'm considering buying some fleece and cutting to size to use as reuseable baby wipes and blankets etc. My E&L sewing machine does "overstiching", would this be good enough to finish the edges or should I buy/borrow an overlocker?x

You don't need to inish the edges of fleece as it doesn't fray so the finish would be for looks only so I'd say it would be fine. I use it to stop fraying and it seems to work and looks fine. Have to say fleece doesn't make for great bottom wipes as it just smears the poo around. It is quite good if you use fleece one side and terry the other.

Yes they are pinking shears but I don't have a clue about patchwork. I got as far as cutting out some squares and came to a halt.
