Hi everyone I thought I would mention a programme which is coming on again next month, which I really enjoyed last time it was on. Twiggy and a few other people had a programme where women were asked to bring an item of clothing which they no longer wore and they were all hung up on clothing rails and the ladies chose one and tried them on and there was a woman who was great with a sewing machine and she sewed and cut and embellished garments for the ladies to fit them. I loved the whole idea of the show so will be watching out for it again. A great way to recycle clothing and changing the look of something for free.

Fruitloop Ive made this one (twice as first one was a disaster!). Are you using wadding per tutorial? If yes then 2oz stuff should do it. I didnt use any interfacing for this as the wadding gave it a bit of body and was using quite heavy material so didnt need it. If you are using it though, I was told that you should never use anything heavier than the material you are using. You can buy either iron on or sew in. I think some projects state if they are better with the sew in stuff. (although I always buy iron on as more versatile and easier.) It comes in metres. You can get it on ebay. Supplier I use attached as they were cheapest I could find the last time I bought any. Sure they have different weights too.

Yes I was planning on using wadding as I already have some here. How did your bag turn out? Are you pleased with it? Will look at the linky in a mo.

Being honest, I really didnt like the handles the way they are stitched to the side of the bag. They looked really awkward and I just thought they retracted from the overall look of the bag. Also would make the bag a bit bigger than in the tute. (Everyone has different taste though so maybe you will like it.) :)

Im after a new machine which does zigzag, buttonholes and embroidery stitches, maby something with a walking foot if i choose to do quilting in the future as have heard this is good to have (but really am pretty clueless?!).

Any recommendations if noones heard of this machine?

I have the Lervia from Llidl and it's good for the money.
Does zigzag, buttonholes and embroidery, but doesn't have a walking foot.

  • Hi everyone, I am new to this thread but do lots of sewing too. Its nice to find so many people who live in the North East too.

I was just wondering if anyone on here has ever tried using Misis, or Floksy? I have made quite a bit of stuff and thought I might try one of these sites to sell them on, but has anyone actually sold anything through these?

I need an outlet. I visited a local craft fair the other day to check them out. It was so badly advertised that sellers were packing up to go by 1pm and it was to be open till 4pm but hardly anyone had come. The stall holders had paid £50 a table as well!! This seems outrageous, dont' they realise how much time and effort goes into making crafts. This seems to me to be criminal.

Are there any other good craft fairs in the North East too? That are cheaper to attend and get plenty of visitors?

    Hi fellow North Eastener!

I would be keen to hear any replies to this as I am making stuff and eventually when I have enough i plan to do a craft fayre or sell online.

I figure car boot sales would not be the right place to sell my wares as everyone (me included) want's everything for nowt.

That sounds really interesting, and right down my street. I'll look out for it.
  • Hi Kandipandi

Nice to speak to you. I agree, at car boots in my area they seem to want everything for 20p, whether you have told them £2 or not! The past few car boots I have done I hardly made back my entrance fee.

We need some nice kind person who has a handy venue in the North East to let us hold a craft fair for maybe £20 a table. I think this would be of benefit to them as well as for crafters, as they would get more people holding a stall. There seems to be plenty of crafters out there and if you went to the Durham Xmas craft fair last year you will have seen that there were thousands of people over the course of the weekend trying to squeeze into the tents, so there is a market for homemade goods if people know about it. Expect the tables to be dear at that fair too. Will have to enquire I suppose.
