    Thanks everyone.

The squares on the patchwork were sewn together on the machine, but everything else is hand sewn.

The name decorations are felt with a selection of buttons sewn on.
    Heres a close up

Sunshine, I'm sure you could make a name thing. It isn't hard, just time consuming. Ask if you want some help. I just muddled through and learnt as I went along.
As I said, haven't sewn for years, since my kids were small.

Want to finish my applique today. Have cheated and used Bondaweb, but I'm hand sewing round each shape.

Thanks Cuddles. Ive got some felt and have some embellishments from my card making days that I can probably use. What material do you use for the background? Is it just 2 layers of cotton with quilting between or is it felt too?

Cuddles - Welcome and thanks for posting your brilliant makes!!:T
We should all get together and start a shop!

In the north east I but lots of my stuff from The Curtain Warehouse at Blaydon Chainbridge Industrial Estate, it used to be called the factory fabrics, they sell all kinds of fabric and I generally pick up some fantastic remnants for 50p each. I also love the Yorkshire Trading Company at Cramlington within Manor Walks, they have a habidashery section at the back left and they are always dead helpful and keep strange/unusual bits and bobs.
I have bought some bits from Hobbycraft at the Team Valley, but they are a bit too expensive for my tastes!

So glad you posted your pictures I love a nosey through all the brilliant stuff you lot make and hope to [STRIKE]steal [/STRIKE]borrow some ideas.

    Thanks Kandipandi

I do use YTC and love them. Agree about Hobbycraft prices though. Never thought of Factory Fabrics - good idea.
Have also used Dainty Supplies in Washington, and have found a brilliant Quilting Shop in Northumberland.

I remember when Fewicks and Bainbridges had really good Haberdashery Departments, but they have very little now.

No problem with copying and/or adapting from my pics - the really isn't anything new left to do, just adapt old ideas.

Sunshine, I did the letters, sewed the embellishments, then put a backing on to cover the threads. The red one is felt, but the blue one is cotton as I had just started and didn't have more felt.
I make ribbon loops on the top, to hang using cord or dowelling.

Just ask if you want any help.

Thanks Cuddles - I miss Fenwicks for habidashery too :(
Someone mentioned Dainty Supplies (or Dainty Toys as I still call it) for beads, its somewhere I hadn't even thought of must brave the roundabouts at Washington and try to find it again.

You must tell me where the brilliant quilting shop is in Northumberland.

I have been beading this last couple of weeks but today made my first sewing thing in ages - its only small but hope it counts, IPOD touch cover:

Love the ipod touch cover Kandipandi.

Cuddles do you have a template for the letters? They all seem so even not at all like if I hand drew them. I've made some simple triangular bunting but would love to make some name bunting. I also love the cupcake bunting. Do you have a template for that too?

I am beginning to wish I had more energy, as looking at all the pictures just makes me want to start sewing. Not that i have the money to buy anything at the moment, so its all going to be Upcycled if I do! But thats the fun part as well.
When DGD is in Nursery in the Autumn, (if she is still living with me until then), then I know what will be filling my darker days!,
Meanwhile I will have to get the energy reserved and sew when she has gone to bed. But usually by then I am beat!.

happy sewing to you all, I am loving looking at the ideas, and pictures.
Can only give odd bits of advise, until then.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
