How often do you clean you sewing machine? Ive just spent a nice afternoon with the radio on and took mine apart, well not completely just removed the metal plate that sits over the feed dogs, the plastic plate and the shuttle. you should see how much fluff has come out of it and its not been ages since I did it.
Ive blogged about it so any new sewers who haven't done it or who may be scared to take the bits apart don't be scared have a look on my blog and see what came out of mine, Gross!0 -

hello everyone, im new here and just wanted to introduce myself. i done some sewing and machine work at college a few years ago but unfortunately had to begin working and so i didnt finish
i have a love for embroidery and sewing. i have been an avid cross stitcher since my sister taught me when i was 12 and i have just purchased my first sewing machine. only a small brother one but its enough for me to do some projects.
last night i began my very first quilt. im a little rusty due to not having sewn for a few yrs due to marriage and having my littl'un! but im back on the saddle and so excited to get started.
last night i cut out my 42 quilt squares, the edging and half the back. hopefully my machine will cometoday and i can get the squares sewn together.Current Mortgage balance - £363,785.35/£420,000 (highest point Oct 2022).0 -
Welcome Keza and well done for making a start on something like a quilt! You are aiming big which is brilliant. What colours are you making it ? And what size?0

hi rufusdog52, its for my friends daughter, for her toddler bed. i ahve cut the squares already, which are plain lilac, plain pink, pink butterflies, bright flowers on white and a childs picture pattern on white (not sure how else to describe that one!) then pink gingham for the edge.
bit ambitious but i like to start big!i figure that with my past dabbling, i should be able to manage a simple style quilt
