I don't come into contact with any public at all whilst at my job, only people to see my blanket are other employee's why i take it to my seat.. once i'm sat down.. no one would know i had it.0 -

Sounds to me that they are trying to put their foot down before others bring in Hot Water Bottles, Ear Muffs and a Wee Willie Winky Hat!!!;)Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -

I think it is safe to assume the you (OP) are female? How about wearing calf or ankle length skirts in the office? If you got ones made of heavier fabric they might serve the same purpose as your blanket, and no-one could possibly object to that.

Or a heavy apron, put it on to make the tea and just keep forgetting to take it off again.
P.S....i'm loving the 'verbal warning for yawning' angle; the management must be total argosholes unable to manage their way out of a paper bag. One day they will get their comeuppance.....0 -

TheMidnightOwl wrote: »Thank you for the feedback. I am inclined to agree with you as i have used a blanket for almost three years of working there. and for some reason, now my blanket is a problem.. I will ask the reason but i know will they will come back and say i wasnt given permission to use it in the first place.. which is true.. I didnt think i needed permission to be honest.. I took it home with me after every shift. so it has never been left laying around the office.. a girl in work last week got a verbal warning for yawning.. i feel i'm capable of standing up for myself.. but wondering if its worth it as even if i get to keep my blanket they will make it very difficult for me in work.. they will see my keeping my blanket as defiance.. They couldnt be more wrong.. i just want to come in, do my job and go home without pain..
"A verbal warning for yawning" - errr....really.......COR:eek: Ye gods - I do believe you though. What on earth are this firm playing at? Forbidding one person from using her pillow (presumably necessary for health reasons), forbidding you from using your blanket (definitely necessary for health reasons) and that verbal warning for yawning....bl***y h**l!
Hmmm....I'm now wondering if they are being deliberately awkward in any and every petty little way they can think of to all the staff?? - closely followed by wondering whether they might be hoping to reduce staff numbers by any nasty/illicit little method they can think of rather than pay redundancy money?
Just how commonplace are these petty nasty little things? I'm wondering how high a proportion of the staff have been on the receiving end of this sort of shenanigans by them.
Actually you keeping your blanket isnt "defiance" in any halfway reasonable persons book - its a "reasonable adaptation" under the terms of the Disability Discrimination Act - made in order to enable you to keep your job. I rather think their work doctor would tell them so too.0 -
Pillow... blanket... yawning... you don't work in a bed showroom do you? :rotfl:

we don't have a work doctor.. you are right though, it's not just me being targeted. people get verbal warnings for glancing out the window. one person had a discplinary for going the toilet 3 times in 8 hrs.. and was told to bring a doctors note in. she was told the average adult bladder can wait upto 4 hrs before needing the loo..0
