Your Doctor has recommended that you use a blanket to alleviate the pain and that without it you would be unable to work?
If the above is the case then your supervisor/manager/employer would need a pretty good reason to remove it from you. You need to know what their rationale is.
yes thats correct, except i would be able to work, would just be in a great deal of pain, which would affect my job.. accuracy is important in my work.. hard to concentrate whilst in pain..0 -
I'm also pondering what the possibilities would be re "constructive dismissal"?? Being forbidden to use a "reasonable adaptation" and not even given a reason as to why might possibly entitle you to resign and claim "constructive dismissal" against them to get some compensation???
Dont know what our resident lawyer on this Board would think of that?
- But I bet it might get them a bit concerned at the thought of having a possible court case against them:D0 -
So you would not be able to work to the required standard?
So you would not be able to carry out your duties properly which means that they could dismiss you and you could take them to the cleaners for constructive dismissal. We all evolve - get on with it0 -
Of course there is the "taking the michael" approach as wellll.......well they started that one didnt they?
The "taking the michael" thing to do would be to come in to work wearing a nice long fleecy dressing gown - which would certainly cover up your knees and might do as good a job as a blanket perhaps? There are some lovely ones around.....i've got a couple myself...and they are bliss for adding a bit of extra warmth.
Well - if needs must - and I'd like to see them argue back against an item of clothing
I have fleecy pj's which are heaven and keep me warm.. the manager did tell me to try wear fleecy pants, .. and i do have a matching bathrobe.. if only eh0 -

I will just have to work in pain until then. defying them wouldnt be in my best interest..depending on the outcome of the boss's decision, i will take it from there... Thank you so much for your advice
I think this is where you say you have taken advice, you are not prepared to do with out it, they have a letter from your doctor and if the boss wants you to stop using it before Tuesday he must come back in and engage the company doctor in overruling your doctor.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. As I understand the law - I think them dismissing OP would be "unfair dismissal". "Constructive dismissal" is when they make it impossible to continue with one's job - so one resigns and claims against them for having been forced to resign against ones will.0 -

Well - I'm serious actually. I suggest doing precisely that until Tuesday - when hopefully this will be sorted out without any further nonsense from them.
What is the difference after all between a long coat and a long dressing gown? - a name...thats all.0 -

I could never be that defiant.. and as jobs are hard to come by these days.. i will take the tactful approach. await boss's decision and ask why i have been made to work in pain unwithout an explanation.0 -

I'm sorry your boss is a complete a hole OP! Clearly this twerp had his blankie taken away from him when he was younger. A recession and lack of other jobs is no excuse for abusing an employee with such petty behaviour.
Have you tried leg warmers up and over your knees instead of a blanket?0
