Sorry for the misunderstanding... the query was dismissed... not me0

I can see the employers viewpoint.
There is not exactly much medical about a blanket and if you have genuine health concerns they have a duty of care to use OH assessment to ensure they are supporting you in the best way
A blanket whether a doctor has said it might help or not isnt exactly a medical instrument. I also doubt your doctor has prescribed it etc. More just said it might help. But then so would lots of things.0 -

A "reasonable adjustment" doesn't have to be a medical device0 -

But the doctor says it would make a difference, so it possibly comes under the head of a reasonable adjustment. If the company doesn't have an occupational therapist, perhaps a call to a Disability Employment Advisor at JC + may help.
Anihilator, you are always diametrically opposed to an OP's point of view, by the way was it too cold waiting with the trolls and orcs for battle with the alliance at the crossroads at Ogremor0 -

a reasonable adjustment has to be justified though.
If the employer feels a blanket is damaging to others then they can refuse it.
One might suggest if the OP needs a blanket to function they should be in a care home.
I certainly wouldnt deal with someone with a blanket draped over them.0 -

Personally I can see it from both sides - and I don't normally sit on the fence. I think there is a point to prove here. The employer is being a complete *rse and the OP is making a point. Unfortunately in situations like this, the employer usually wins - No promotion, No last minute holidays, etc etc
Good Luck OPAsk me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -

But as they are on the other end of a phone, how would you know? could you be using orcvision?
Would you refuse to deal with someone in a wheelchair with a blanket over their legs then? If they were a CAB advisor or some other professional?0 -

What do you wear when you post here?
Second thoughts, let's not go there.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I worked at a CAB where one of my colleagues was a wheelchair user, he competed in marathons in his wheelchair, and I'm sure clients who were having problems sorted didn't care whether he had a blanket over his legs or not.0
