    Well done greengoblin!

    More stuff out today:
2 x cardboard boxes from garage (recycling)
1 x work bits (to work)
    1 x magazine (charity)

4 more bits gone, woo hoo. Still a long way to go. Just noticed that the amount of things I've passed to charity/freecycle or friends is nearly 1,000 items this year!
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

    In

    Pair of sandals from Mum
Two mugs, handbag, scarf, jumper, skirt and a necklace from car boot sale

    Pending Out

Skirt and jumper into charity bag

I haven't done very well at all this week, only four things in the charity bag altogether, so not worth taking yet.

Managed to get downstairs hoovered, all floors washed as well as dishes done & packed away, will use this afternoon to walk the dog & then clear out the airing cupboard:eek::eek: A task I've been putting off for some time..... wish me luck:D

  • After a weekend of sorting through boxes of DVDs/Cds/paperwork that haven't been looked at in 4 years, I have decided to join the 2010 declutter thread! Our study room AKA "dumping ground" has reached maximum capacity and it needs to become a study again.
I have made a start already:

    OUT
6 x kitchen items (charity shop)
1 x pair pajamas (charity shop)

    IN
    Padded envelopes (for ebaying stuff)
    Parcel tape (ditto)
3 x punnets of soft fruit and chillies (will be making various jams tomorrow for our winter stores)
2 x kilos of jam sugar (ditto)

I have at least 25 DVDs that will be ebayed or sent to music magpie. Also have a sat nav to ebay and numerous plant pots and garden things to freecycle later in the week.

Mrsgibbs1503 - Good luck with the airing cupboard, you are a braver woman than me! My understairs cupboard cannot be closed unless you give it a good kick and I have no idea whats lurking at the back anymore :o.

One car absolutely rammed full of stuff went to the tip today. Happy Kaz :D
Off to pick up a chair (won on ebay) later for my bedroom. We have had our new wardrobes fitted so all of our clothes are away now. Our new bed was delivered last week and the old uncomfortable matress has been tipped.
DS's bedroom has been gutted now apart from clearing the polystyrene tiles off the other half of his ceiling.
Downstairs looks like a bomb has hit it but it will all come together once the rooms are finished.
I think I'll call a halt to decluttering until the building work has been finished now. It's getting really hard to do.
I did take 3 duvets to the RSPCA but they were shut so I'll try later as I have to pass it when I go to collect the chair.
I really need to sort out my kitchen cupboards too but I just want to cry when I look in them. Can I ask how you guys arrange your bits and pieces in your cupboards so that they look tidy? I mean things that come in packets like pasta, crisps, cakes etc.
I only have 1 drawer in the kitchen so I have a wall cupboard which houses jams, cereals and bread stuffs. Another which holds dried stuff. Herbs, spices tea coffee etc. I have a double which just gets filled with everything else, tins, jars, packets, tubs. You name it. It is ghastly in there.
I then have a base unit which holds my baking stuff and dishes and a corner base unit which holds my big things SC etc and big packets of pasta. I really need to get on top of it. I suppose it will be easier to use once I get my dresser to put in the lounge because then I can put my nice baking dishes on there but until then, HELP!
    (All suggestions welcome :) )

I bought a couple of cheap(ish) plastic boxes approximately 13" x 10" x 7" high that fit inside my wall cupboards - one holds all the packet-type stuff and one holds a lot of my 'baking' stuff, i.e. cookie cutters, small tubs of decorations, etc.:) admittedly not everything fits inside them....keep meaning to buy another couple...:o

A friend is holding a charity yard sale in September so I am looking to fill a carrier bag for her - so far just 2 items in it.

Another 2 general items have gone - one to the tip and the other into recycling. So general total is now 10/50. Nothing more from the paperwork mountain although there is something I've been putting off dealing with for a while which I've decided I'm going to do tomorrow.

Karmacat, I hope all goes well with the packing tomorrow and move on Wednesday.

Here is the latest decluttering list -

Old bills re-used for scrap paper or composted.
All veg seeds used this year and put in homemade compost/pots to be eventually recycled.
Old food container used as a kitchen scrap container now recycled.
    Cleared a backlog of videos.
    Made a health appointment.

So it seems like "minor" money saving but would like to see bigger spaces cleared indoors. However, the process of garden decluttering seems more appealing.
