Hi guys! I sooo need to join in with this
I'm moving to Leeds in a couple of months with my OH, and he has a load of stuff too! Eek!
Does anyone have any tips for a first time de-clutterer with a house full of stuff?! I've had a quick read of the thread and there are a few things I've not heard of, like freegle?! Is that like ebay?
thanks!!

Hi everyone!
Wow this thread brings back some memories, I was a regular here for a few months at the beginning of 2008 while I sorted out my house
I'm really enjoying the benefits, it may be a tough task sometimes and hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it's so worth it in the end I promise you! Good luck! :T
I keep things in shape now mainly by not bringing much into the houseI still keep a small "selling crate" - anything I don't want/need goes in there and it gets sorted every few months.
I might have to follow along for a while and see how you're getting on, although it'll probably give me the bug to go and sort through a few rooms again:rotfl:
Have fun with it!!!0 -

Hi All
Oh a busy day today!
Suzanne - freegle is like freecycle not ebaygreat to give stuff away on that you cant or dont want to ebay, and also worth keeping an eye out for stuff that you need. I have had some brilliant stuff off freegle and freecycle and have given loads away on it.
In:
Delivery from Lakeland - cellophane and tissue for hampers 2010 and storage boxes
Magazines on subscription
Sewing machine :T (other half of my Christmas present!)
Out:
One cockerel - turns out he was the wrong sex and the other one we have was starting to bully him. Sorry to see him go but he has gone to a harem of his own where I know he will be happy.
Two large fish (they are alive and have gone to a new home)
Two filters that belong to the fish tank
2 more bags of rubbish
3 bags of recycling (going to hide when the binmen come :rotfl:)
2 mahoosive loads of paper filed or shredded
Pending Out
Box of stuff on freecycle (waiting for the message to go on as I "broke the rules" by posting the cockerel - hey he got a good home and I wasnt aware I couldnt)
The house is already starting to look better and I am making the boys pick up their clothes every night and have a quick tidy of their rooms now they are decluttered so we are on the right track for 2010.

Not muchwent on here today either. I was going to stay in and declutter and tidy up but hubby was meeting his sister at Bluewater (local shopping heaven) so I tagged along, and we didn't get home till 3.30pm!
IN:
1 printer ink in post (ordered 8, don't know where the other 7 have got to)
2 pens for Christmas pressies
6 greetings cards for various birthdays throughout the year
Gift set of toiletries for son in law's birthday in March
Learn to Crochet magazine
OUT:
1 bag of peanuts and 1 bag of tortilla chips for daughter's party
2 'tree' presents that I forgot to give to daughter and son in law last week
Was too tired to do any decluttering, and baby grandson arrived at 4pm to stay the night, so I'll tackle it all tomorrow. First day of my "Wave bye bye to 100 things in 10 days" challenge.
Happy New Year to everyone, and good luck in your challenges for 2010.Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

I'm going to jump in early this time.. have half followed the previous threads but it's so hard to catch up when your 100 odd pages behind!
2009 for me was a great year for de cluttering and simplifying.. but there is still more to go.
Today I spent most of my time sorting and reorganizing the kitchen cupboards.. removing a lot of cups and glasses that were taking up a double wall cupboard.. no way I needed that many so have now condenced it down. Nice to start the new year with a clean kitchen.. Cleaned the hob yesterday.
I have a lot of baby stuff to sort through and sell or freecycle... 2009's sell offs helped me to clear my debt... so 2010's sell off's are going to help me start my savings pot.
I really want to get things cleared up and more organised so that it's easier to be a flylady, hate having to do a mjor clean when I know someone is coming round!
A tip for all those new de clutterers.. pick your room and start at the door working your way round the room in a clockwise manner.
Never take out more than you can sort in the time you have... Don't empty the whole chest of draws.. just do one at a time otherwise it gets overwhelming and very daunting.
If you are selling.. have something specific that you will use the money for.. some kind of nice reward.. it's a great incentive.
If your not sure about something.. jot it down in a note book and review it in six months.. if it still hasn't been used or wornd get rid!
Each day do the binbag fling.. either set your self 5/10 minutes to do it or set yourself 10/15 items whatever your comfortable with... these should be things that you can bin straight away!
Well that's all from me for now... except to say, am I the only one reading all these posts and thinking Oh I could make use of that when I see things on peoples "out" lists?
Happy new year all xxxTrying to make a better life.... If you need me you'll find me at the allotment.0 -

Morning Everyone
A Happy New Year to all - its very pretty up here in Lincolnshire, frosty with a dusting of snow. My eldest son said to me this morning that it is as if the world has been cleaned and we have a new canvas to work on for the new year, thought it was a good thought to start the next decade on!

Morning Everyone and A Happy New Year!!!
Well Christmas came and went and I was surprised at DS1 and DS2 piles of presants- quite managable and I thought this was getting easier but since Christmas every room is full of stuff - it was spotless a week ago where does it all come from?

Happy New Year, everyone
I know it's still early and plenty of time to declutter, but I've made a good start by decluttering the tea caddy and biscuit tin.No, really, I have got some things sorted.
Out: Recycling
In: There will be food shopping (lovely Nectar vouchers!) and perhaps a late Christmas present to ourselves from the sales.
Perhaps not true decluttering, but I have sorted the fridge so that a pack of meat I got a day or so ago is now split into meal-sized portions and those and some other bits have gone into the freezer. Got to love it when you buy 1.1kg of beef mince on a 3 for £9 offer and it splits into 6 portions(Also got some prawns and chicken fillets in that deal; the chicken is now made into 4 chicken burgers and some nuggets, and the prawns are straight in the freezer). The Christmas decs will come down today and go into the loft, and the old Christmas cards will get turned into tags for next year.
Have a good day, everyone.
