Hi All - Just a quick pop in post to say I agree with everyone who replied to Debtdesperardo - once a present is given it belongs to the person it was given to. Clearly you dont want to hurt anyones feelings but there is no point in hanging on to stuff you dont like/cant use .... My daughter said that in her office they have a post-Christmas present swop which seems like a good idea (providing you remember not to bring something in that you were given by someone at work) Proper post tomz.

Ref water filters lc, I notice Argos often have Brita bins for recycling them! And haven't you been busy!

Thank you for that, I knew I'd seen a bin somewhere for them. Hubby thought it might have been Robert Dyas but as we don't live very near one, it might take a while to dispose of it. But if Argos take them, it can go this week.

I was busy, although I don't have much to show for it, if you know what I mean. I spent hours going through a couple of cupboards, going through all the old papers and greetings cards, then shredding them. But to look at it, you wouldn't think I'd done anything, because what's left is now all neat in box files! When OH got back I told him I'd done lots of 'behind the scenes' decluttering: he wouldn't know as he very rarely sorts out any papers (hence the reason why he's got a big pile accumulating, which is my next target!). He only sees what is before his eyes - if it's tidy I've been doing something! When he was at work every day, I used to leave the vacuum in the hall and squirt a bit of polish in the air, then he'd think I had spent the day cleaning! As long as it was tidy I could fool him!

The sunny weather inspired me to venture out to the garden shed - Got rid of a fair bit of stuff and found quite a lot of stuff to sell on Ebay / Boot sale. Was too tired to list it by the time I'd finished tidying but at least I can get to it now.

    So, over the weekend:

    IN
    DVD for DS
    OUT
About 100 Pokemon cards - DS gave to friend -I'm proud of his decluttering behaviour
Rotten old cupboard door from garden
bin liner full of broken & rotten stuff from shed
    Rotten old rug
    Loads of recycling
    composting
    PENDING OUT
    3 X Ebay Parcels
1/2 bag of stuff for CS
    high chair for CS
Paint tins for tip - need to persuade someone with a car to give me a lift though
Another rotten old rug - destined for the bin once its emptied
Broken chair - awaiting a bonfire

i take my coathangers to tesco ( took a load on friday that were stupid and didnt fit properly in my DS wardrobe ) i took a load of carrier bags as well. i read somewhere that ALL shops that sell batteries must by law have a recycling bin for them. so i keep droppign them in my shoppign bag so i can take them down the local sainsburys with me (DH has a battery charger so i have to check with him which ones can go as he keeps topping them up;))

threw a few bits away out of my sewing box including 5 reels of the worlds most rubbish cotton - my machine nearly went out of the window on saturday when it kept coming unthreaded till i reailsed it was cheap nasty cotton not the machine at fault.

5 breadsticks & ritz that had gone soft
    put in their proper places:
6 Holey jeans in rag bag pending charity rag bag out

    Gone today:

Used up and recycled packaging of a Body SHop lotion and a Nivea shower cream
A net curtain and pole, charity shop
Misc rubbish/flyers through the door - these are doing my head in, get loads, recycled
    Old saucepans to a friend

Will later out sort out some old clothes rails, used when we last moved home...

Keep up the good work everyone. And before you put anything into that black bin, think could someone else make use of this - either a charity shop or by freecycle, or a friend. I'm always amazed what goes on freecycle (even broken stuff). :A
