Has anyone found anything to do with old videos? We have millions!

I'd like to know this too. The charity shops are full of them and they don't sell at car boot sales around here.

I hate to put them into the rubbish but i can't think of anything else, particularly for the ones i've recorded myself.

  • I've already sold 4 books on Greenmetropolis in the last 7 days; been selling there for a year now (same username) and have shifted about 35 books so far (some are yet to give me feedback), and I've got around 100 more to list eventually once I have read them, or at least attempted to!!

I've also been ripping all my CDs and then selling them to CEX.
  • Does anyone know of anywhere that buys CDs that aren't in their original cases?

One thing I've started using is my gym membership, which had been lying dormant for... err... a while :j

Can I join too please? Have been sitting here reading this thread and forgot I had the gym tonight, oh well my exercise will be getting started on the de-cluttering.

As for videos, I gave my bought ones to my sister (who still has a recorder) and chucked the taped ones (I had about 200), when my VCR packed in just last year. Had been replacing them with DVD's but will probably never watch them again. I have a tonne of clothes, toiletries, perfume (around 32 bottles), shoes, bags, and sadly, cassettes, which I'd like to replace but again might not bother.

As for food, found a six pack of crisps last week, dated Sept 09, tried a pack and they were ok but felt ill knowing they were out of date! Must not be wasteful!
  • Well, I've been swishing for the first time (apparently that's what they call clothes swapping?) but books were accepted too, so I got rid of shelf-full and came away with some nice woollen jumpers (which I really needed) and a beautiful vintage bag that will go to my sister for her b'day. Much easier than Ebay and it feels good that my unwanted items will be used and not binned. It also feels great to rescue someone else's unloved possessions :).

Also used my gym membership again. :A And the toiletries are starting to get used up too, slowly but surely, my skin has never looked so good. I didn't realise this challenge would be so much fun!
  • Hi everyone - I have only just noticed this thread and would love to join in. I definitely need to do the same, especially for books and toiletries - I have not bought any this month so am doing okay so far. :)

A couple of mositurisers will be used tomorrow as there is hardly any left in them and started another book on the "to read and sell" list.

:rotfl:Oh well, if it's nice stuff why not?
  • Hi everyone, so far put 30 items on ebay, 4 have one bid but it's early days. One of my hubbys items has 67 watchers!! unbelievable!!

While sorting through stuff to ebay, if i think it's not worthy, it goes straight to charity or bin!! Then every time i drive past i will take stuff in, took one big carrier bag full in yesterday.

Slowly but surely my spare bedroom / junk room is getting emptier!! Goal being daughter wants to move into it and on son 1 wants to move in to hers and son 2 stop where he is on own!!

So that will be eventually 3 bedrooms totally decluttered, then just need to do rest of house.

Any monies raised is going towards a lovely sofa bed for the play room as i won't have a spare room / bed anymore.

  • Hi me again! where is everyone today?

Motivated by this wonderful thread i have just placed another 10 items and now have six bids!!

However, struggling with recipe books!! Obviously with charity beginning at home would like to make some money before chartiying things. Books on ebay don't seem to be selling, tried amazon, but you need a credit card to sell, which haven't got nor intend to!!

Is there any other way of selling books, that don't require a credit card or standing at a stall for hours (no good at car boots, always bring more back)?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, or they will be added to charity pile.

Thanks yet again for a wonderful thread.
