I think its the overtly obvious nature of it I find weird...its like a virtual being on the pull (a concept I find weird too)...I'd much rather make friends first and then decide if I fancy them...

Well that sort of how I do it, except I talk to them and it gradually filters through my brain that not only do I like them, but I "like" them too.

I have tried the 0-200 mph method before in the past - it doesn't work for me really.

but that's what online dating is, you talk for a bit online (if you want to) then decide if you want to meet, then once you've meet if you want to continue meeting.

if a person goes to a club or pub alot you can say they are always on the pull. the thing with online dating is you can give as much info as you want to, how much you feel comfortable giving.

Z, (or anyone), do you know if there's somewhere I can look up the weather/temperature for the last couple of weeks? All I can find are forecasts for the next few days.

The met office does have *some* historic data, but if you're wanting to check to see if their predictions are anywhere near accurate, I can't think of anywhere off-hand.

i like to chat a lot before the first meeting as well. you can get a 'feel' of what the person is like. if we can chat easily online or on the phone then it's a positive thing for a meet - but not always...... :o
