If you live in a city and have a good social life that's easy enough to do though.

I am the only single person in my social circle, and I have the kids 12 nights out of 14 (and my nights 'off' rarely coincide with any social events), so the chances of me happening to meet someone on one of the handful of occasions I go out per year are minimal, particularly as I don't socialise with other single people.

I rather like the simplicity of it - if people are on a dating site, they are (usually) there because they want to date, so there's no awkwardly trying to find out if they are single etc.

As to whether it is the route to a long term relationship, I am not yet sure, but I have met some cool people (and some not so cool ones!).

Two of my closest male friends are people I have met online, both of whom I have dated. :)

i like to chat a lot before the first meeting as well. you can get a 'feel' of what the person is like. if we can chat easily online or on the phone then it's a positive thing for a meet - but not always...... :o

There is always a risk that someone is going to go down with nerves. But I've met people before because I like them and they make me laugh, rather than because I "like" them.

In the grand scheme of things I prefer friends to Ex's....

Well that sort of how I do it, except I talk to them and it gradually filters through my brain that not only do I like them, but I "like" them too.

I have tried the 0-200 mph method before in the past - it doesn't work for me really.

Probably didn't really work for her either!

The met office does have *some* historic data, but if you're wanting to check to see if their predictions are anywhere near accurate, I can't think of anywhere off-hand.

I just want to see if there's been a period of 7 days with the temperature dipping to 0 or below since the 18th, for a cold weather payment. I guess I'll just have to wait till the DWP update the info.

    It is difficult TBH.
Everyone I know more or less are in couples & I dont really meet new people through work.
Part of me is quite happy with that but one of my rellies keeps mentioning it.
Sometimes i do feel life is passing me by~two of my friends got engaged this while back.Mmmmmm.

I know how you feel, I really wish I had someone to cuddle up to and share things with, but right now I'm just not in the right place for it. It's one of my aims for 2010, to get to a point where I can think about relationships.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I am married and *I* have a sex life.

Admittedly it's not with the person I'm married to... :rotfl:

Do it for you, and for how you feel, rather than because people are trying to make you think you're missing out on something.

A relationship is not something you shoot and stick on a wall like a trophy - you are as much a part of it as the other person.

(having said that, sometimes a partner is something you shoot and stick under the patio - eh Sally?)
