Don't believe there is any such thing, or at least, it is very very rare. Damp proofing is a scam, supported by mortgage companies and surveyors scared of litigation.

    There is so there :p

This was a wall in my house last year I had to have the damp course replaced on that wall

jo - if you're thinking of moving to London, remember that there are plenty of us on here who can help (not soappie though... she's allergic to the place :p:p)

jo - yep, feel free to ask me, i only moved here a couple of years ago (gosh, is it that long!). It's my 2 year anniv soon for those who remember my wedding! I know SW london relatively well as dh works there. We are actually planning to move away in the next year or so and we've had the same discussion about what order to do things in. We've decided to look for jobs first (as we want to go much more rural where jobs are scarce), and if one of us gets a decent job we will go as we have somewhere we can live (friend's empty place) very cheap for a while.

L-L - hugs, I'm glad you feel better having made your decision. x

I've been up since 9ish, DH still asleep. We went to bed at 10.30 last night, read for a while and then were asleep by 11.30 - bliss! I need to get back into a normalish routine otherwise 6.40am on Monday will be a shock!

I am off to make another cuppa then I will get cracking on my list, at least I'll start by taking down the tree and cards. I also want to nip into town and pick up a parcel from the sorting office (shuts at 1pm) and can buy my travelcard then (going onto monthly from annual in case I end up not working all year!) so I will have to remember to buy them every month, hmmm I think might be able to do online. I also need to put some more stuff on the 2010 calendar including recycling collection dates etc.

Oh, and the diet starts today...

At risk of going off-topic, what was the other side of the wall, what was the original damp course made from, and did you have it all replastered?

The other side of the wall is typical red brick with a pea shingle trench and air vent and things at the bottom of it. No idea what the original damp course was made from as the house is over 100 years old. And yes, the plaster was all knocked off and replaced. No sign of damp at all now, some 9 months or so later.

Hi everyone. I would love to re-join, if that's ok. I kind of fell off the flying wagon with moving house and not having internet for ages early this year. Now that I have baby #3 due VERY soon and realised I need the house to be in a reasonable state before hand as there is no way I'll manage it afterwards! We are in a tiny 2 bed bungalow (though lucky enough to have a ultiluty room and double garage, both full of carp!) so shouldn't be too hard to clean up... (must do something about the clutter though)

Especially important ASAP is sorting out our room as having a home birth and midwives will need to fit in there somehow! As will baby once it's born. Heaven knows where all baby's clothes etc will go...

Anyway, I am now totally desperate to be a Flylady again - starting today as kids are off out with Auntie so I will have some TIME! Missions for the day include...

    - Kitchen! (Empty and clean bin, wash up, S&S surfaces, clean cooker)
    - Utility Room (Actually put away the clean washing, do moer washing)
    - Bedroom (Put presents away, sort xmas cupboard, clear dresser, OH's clothes OFF floor)
    - Bathroom (Tidy up!)

Thanks all - yes Im thinking of the job first. But then I need to give up my place here, and possibly put all my stuff in storage. Having a job, means I need to organise school and childcare for the same time.

My aunt lives in SW11 which is the area Im thinking of and Ive seen some properties there which are about 10-15 minute walk from her, all not far from clappam common - Im now currently in the process of looking at schools around there.

Thats me home now and little one is decluttered to the cinema and pizza hut with my neighbour and her little one. Am quickly having a cup of tea and am off to do a HHC from 11.30 - 12.00. Any joiners???
:)Sometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying:)
