Well it didn't turn out exactly as i had planned and i had a few minor disasters along the way. Including one of my cakes not being cooked in the middle when i sliced the top off!! GAH!!! So the bottom tier isn't as deep as i had planned but oh well.
Covering the top tier with sugarpaste was a complete nightmare! I'm not the best at covering cakes but a tier that tall was horrendeous! There are lots of little blips and they was a big crack across the back which i covered with clouds! There are lots of things strategically place on this cake! LOL
But i think it turned out ok in the end:

I wonder if anyone has any suggestions ? I bought a packet of Dr Oetkers ready to roll icing a couple of months ago and used part of it. I thought I had wrapped it up sufficiently but when I came to use it for my Christmas cake recently it has gone hard.
Is there any way of reviving it ?0 -

I'm not sure if you can save it really  but I would try popping it in the microwave for about 10 - 20 seconds and maybe try kneading it with a bit of trex if you have some;)Feb GC £80 per week (Well I'm gunna try:whistle:)

Hi to everyone and a happy new year, I am a bit of a lurker on here. I would like to ask those of you who sell their cakes a question. What brand of ingrediants do you use in your cakes? I am wanting to start to bake to sell at the moment I use Bero flour and Lurpak butter for my cupcakes, are the cheaper products just as good??? Thank you to anyone that takes the time to answer this0

sorry, I haven't read all this thread but are any of you members of the British Sugarcraft Guild? It has a invaluable forum https://www.bsguk.org
The reason I ask is it costs £25ish to join per year but you can then take out their insurance for £16 PER ANNUM if cakes/cupcakes turnover is less than £7500 and it's not your only business!
I've had my cake dec business for just over 2.5years and will probably be giving up my full-time employment and doing cake only as I become a mum this year - the people on that website have been very supportive/friendly and social as any internet person can be! Worth a look!
