Thanks
Esmer i make my decs 2/3/4 days in advance, i let them dry out and then store them in a plastic box lined with bubblewrap so as not to break them.***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0 -

Just stumbled across this thread and thought id ask a couple of questions as you all seem very knowledgable!!
I am in scotland so this might affect any answers im looking for!
I have been given the opportunity to sell my cupcakes at a local food market at the weekend (this would be my 1st time at a market, have done school fairs and galas etc without any thought of registering) and have enquired with environmental health whether i have to be a registered food business to have a stall.. they say i do. (:undecided i read on http://www.food.gov.uk/multimedia/pdfs/scotfarmersmarket.pdf that if the market is registered by the organiser then stalls provided by them need not be licensed, is this not the case then ??)
Also there is someone else who ive seen in a shopping centre selling cupcakes to take away and eat as is (exactly what i want to do!) yet i have just been told by an EHO that i need food labels stating everything on all cakes.. not to question them but really? i cant remember the last time i bought a cupcake that had ingredients listed, even from a bakers :-/
Lastly, if i register my home as being a food business premises do i incur business rates?
Its really put a bit of a downer on what i had thought would be a fantastic opportunity so if anyone could give any info to help it'd be much appreciated.

If you look several pages back there is a lady from EHO that put up some GREAT advice. I am from Scotland and basically got told NO, there is another on here as well and she was the same. Read what our kind EHO person on here said and follow that advice.

Hi All
After reading this thread for inspiration - I'm contacting my local farmers market tomorrow and was wondering for some advice. How many cupcakes do you normally sell at this kind of event? What do you charge? - I wasnks thinking that i didnt want to commit to anything if I couldnt match the demand - I work fully time so would be doing this part time until I'm brave enough to jump into it properly
Thanks
