I keep popping in and out again-I'm trying to spend less time on the pc talking about doing tuff and actually doing stuff.

But I wanted some input if I may please?DH bought me an edible image printer for chrimble and I've obviously been doing my own stuff on it.But Im thinking of listing on ebay or elsewhere.Given how many other listings there are for the same thing Ive been wondering at the feasability of it?Do any of you use edible images? And if so where do you get them and what price range are you comfortable paying?

Good luck with your venture. Just a note of caution though, please, if you are making images to sell make sure you are the copywrite holder of the image that is that either you took the image yourself or you have paid a licence fee to sell it. There are loads of images available royalty free on the web.

Michael Jackson is almost certainly not free copywrite neither are most of the popular cartoon and TV characters. Before you say it yes I know there are loads of sellers already on Ebay who are breaking copywrite law in this way but why join them.

Well I broke the seal today and did my first Country Market. I only produced a small amount in comparison to the other ladies, but they were all so supportive and helpfull. I sold out of all my produce and am feeling very positive ATM.

    I made 6 x 1lb Bran and sultana loaf
    3 x 2lb Bran and sultana loaf
    24 x cheese scones
    6 x 2 portioned bread puddings.

One of the ladies has invited me to sell at a neighbouring market too, so will go and have a nosy next week. Has anyone been able to make a living doing this kind of thing or would it be more of a hobby?:j

    Hi guys!

I am getting lots more bookings now and am very busy which is both exciting and stressful in equal measures! ;)

I have just had an equiry from a friend of my husband who wants a cake for her son's christening. Its for 100 people so she either wants a large tiered cake or a cupcake tower and seperate cake. She is on a budget and i would have to travel 60 miles to deliver so it is not going to be cheap! But i have no idea how much to charge and she wants some idea of cost??

Also if i was just making one tiered cake for 100 people how big would it need to be?

ive just googled cake portion guides and it suggests for a sponge cake you would need a 18" round or a 16" square. you would have to bake these in 2 halves and put together which is fine, your mixer couldnt take the quantity of ingredients needed to bake in one go plus it would take hours to cook! This sounds simpler to me rather than baking 100 cupcakes and possibly cheaper too! Let us know what you decide. x

Thats Karen! That cake looks lovely!! I'm sure they will love it. :)

I just googled too (dunno why i didn't think of that! lol) and have found that i could either do a 3 tiered cake in 12", 10" and 8" rounds, or i could do a tower of 50 cupcakes and a seperate 12" round cake, or 2 tier cake of 10" and 8".

Still have no idea how much to charge though. Will have to work out all my costs i think.

work out ingredients costs and include boxes, boards, ribbons etc and your labour £6 per hr is a fraction over minimum wage, dont work for less ! oh and dont forget delivery, petrol is too expensive to ignore !!!
