wow that is organised!! I don't know the ages of your DS's but in Asda today I got (for my DS who will be 2):
2 x take along thomas coaches (story coach and diesal tanker) - 2 for £8
Thoms PJ's - £5 (they also had some £8 ones, plus they had slippers, wellies all with Thomas on)
2 x Thomas books (for £1 each, they also had early numbers and a literacy one)
    a Thomas fleece blanket £5
and (just for the fun of it not for xmas) a Thomas shaped bruise soother - £1 I think.

Now I want a Thomas box to put it in. The trouble is his b'day is in October and I am tied with what to get/ give for each. The rest of the list goes:

Thomas bed in a bag (duvet/ pillow) which I have found for around £17.
Thomas fold out sofa bed thing (about £25 in Argos)
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

  • Bought my first bit for Christmas today! :j Bought 2 chinese lanterns to set off at the end of the day, after we've eaten (weather permitting.) I would like to do it in memory of Grandad, as this will be the first Christmas without him. 99p each from The Works.

That's a lovely thing to do to remember him by... just hope the weather is good for you :)
  • We did this on the 10 year anniversary of my Nannas death (which happens to be bonfire night). My brother organised it all without letting on, and as it was a couple of years ago now they werent as well known of and he had to order them on the internet from china. Each grandchild had a white lantern and my Grandad had a red heart shaped one. My brother played music which was Nearer My God To Thee (played when Titianic is sinking in the film I think) which was the song played at my Nannas funeral. It actually quite breath taking seeing them set off and there wasnt a dry eye in the whole garden (about 40 of us). It is a beautiful sentiment, have tissues on hand!

Only thing I would say is if you havent set one off before then it could be worth buying a spare one and trying it out before th actual day as if you dont hold them proper the flame can burn a hole in the lantern. It takes quite a while to fill with hot air, you will know when it wants to go as it will tug (My little cousin was nearly flying off with it hahaha).

I sent my grandmother a bouquet of balloons when she was in hospital for the last time, before we knew it was the last time. I got there in time to see her before she died, and once she was gone we took the balloons outside and let them go. By that time they were a bit old and saggy, but the helium in them expanded in the heat of the sun and they took off and flew away. It was wonderful to see them.

Her birthday was Christmas Eve, if I can find helium balloons right before Christmas I'll send one up for her.
