I was at a large town centre today, and it was dead!

Was this the same large town centre you posted about the other day:

Do you by any chance live in a remote ghost town? Where is this mystical deserted town exactly?
I've had the opposite experience (unfortunately... as I hate manic busy shopping days!).0 -
Went into town today after going out for a meal with the boys....very quiet, not at all like a normal Saturday.
Boys got some bargains though.. I spent the grand total of £3.70.
Now a wee bit tiddled, decided on taking the taxi to my parents and thankfully got a lift back from a friend of the family.
Not very often I am tiddled...not used to it anymore! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
As the Dad of someone who works in a shop, I hope they were all quiet today. It wouldn't concern me at all if no money whatever were taken on what used to be a holiday for shop workers.
There is only so much money out there, and it is crazy to think that it won't be spent if shops close for a few days over Christmas. People can get their retail therapy some other time.0 -

Internet shopping has changed the high street forever, why put yourself through the hell of driving through traffic jams, and the parking nightmare...both fraught with the possibility of various fines/excess charges as one body or another attempts to fleece you.
Crowds of the unwashed to fight your way around, eventually buy something you didn't need because it was reduced and spend ages in a queue for the till, then the fun of the drive home.
Alternative, enjoy well earned time off from work, and do your shopping at a time to suit you from the comfort and warmth of your home and have it delivered to your door, and it's cheaper to boot.
Retail shopping, no thanks.0 -
Quite - I had a quick look online, nothing I really needed - don't understand why people go out in the cold to fight over 'reduced' stuff they don't really need anyway.
When they can sit at their computers with a nice hot drink/tipple of their choice and let the deliveryman take the strain - or just not bother to buy at all...?0 -
Bought one thing I need online, and used the computer to select something else I will go in and order, but need to be there in person. But then I've never been a sales person. When I worked in retail there was nothing scarier than mobs of women grabbing bargains as you put them out.Been away for a while.0

I was dragged up town by the children as they had some Christmas money.....mind you, no fighting involved in our sales, the town was very quiet.
Youngest picked up two tops he wanted to have at the beginning of the week (where I had told him not on your nelly, or words to that effect
) for less than half the price, so he was happy (only talking £8 here for the two)
I don't 'do' busy shopping centres at all....and my word, was I bored silly yesterday. We made it! but presumably you will be boo hoo hooing when your child is made redundant.0 -

this recovery is a long way off. yeah, some fools went nuts before xmas, but now reality has hit.
I have just managed to get back from the boxing day sales.
It was gridlock coming out of wigan town centre.
Luckily I had a couple of my christmas gifts onboard.
The always stylish tartan blanket from my mum and the latest Jack Pyke stainless steel thermos flask, the 730 ml version I'll have you know from good old grandad.0
