its not about being sneeky or avoidant, both parties agreed that the damage hasn't warranted any further action why is there any need to take it further?? Would you suggest the OP reports it the police aswell just to make sure?? why not go the whole hog and inform the DVLA aswell who knows they might be interestedEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
There's always an element of risk in the situation the OP describes. Ok, all seems fine to the folks at the scene but latter, when the innocent party talks to the other half, or to a mate down the pub, the claim for a scratch or minor injury can raise it'd head.
In the circumstances described I would simply have made a note of the car, it's reg and time of day etc etc, but not informed the insurer unless the issue was forced by the other party
Any info passed innocently to ther insurer is likely to have the effect of costing money.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

"Avoidant" was not the correct word to use here, "avoidant" is a medical term for extreme shyness. Someone cannot choose to be avoidant they either are or they are not, and if they are they cannot help it.
I don't think I will be taking advice from someone who uses words they don't understand.0 -

Yes, of course you are correct.

They basically said it was up to me how I wanted to poceed - they could record the details and close the case immediately or not bother record the details - if I chose the later then in the event of other driver making a mental note of registration number and deciding later on to make a claim and their insurers would contact mine (apparently the car registration is recorded on the insurers database) and I would have to confirm the accident details, so I've chosen not to have officially recorded.
In any event my conscious is clear.
Sounds to me like the CS agent did not take the appropriate action for an insurer to take, basically s/he told you to do what a lot of us told you to do, that was forget about it. If s/he did not record the details that means the call was not logged and you are left saying "I did tell you about it and I chose not to have the details recorded" Which puts you in a very dodgy position.0 -
Ok, have you all finished, yes I was slightly off with the word but you knew what I meant.
The fact remains that some on here want the OP to AVOID telling the insurance company and we all know that should the 3rd party change their mind that could come back and bite them on the a$$.Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -
