Because statistically you're now a bigger risk to the insurer.0 -

Personally the less I have to tell my insurance company the better. They still try to drag up points from 7 years ago.0

if a claim goes through it CAN effect your premium, but then you go and get a more competive quote from another insurer who WONT be interested in an accident you had but claim wasn't madeEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

OK so you get a quote from said insurer, and then get a quote without declaring the claim that wasn't made..... and even if the two quotes are the same, it doesn't mean that you wouldn't otherwise have had a cheaper quote from a different insurer.0 -

I'm concerned that he will decide at some point in the future that there was damage and if I don't mention it to my insurers it will come back to bite me on the bum
but surely if you didnt exchange details....... how could they make a claim without your details? i would have thought if you agreed in person that it was ok then not to mention it to your insurance.... its different if you didnt speak to them but since you did i would not mention it, lots of people settle things outside of insurance so it doesnt affect NCB, the damage cant have been that significant if you agreed there and then that it was ok, plus how could they claim if they dont know who you are? its highly unlikely thet they would make a 'mental note' of your number plate!0 -
They can find your insurance contact details from the reg number0
