Don't know if this is any good to anyone else...
This xmas I made homemade crackers, and in them I put a miniature bottle of nice hand cream, body lotion, etc. Used body shop or Sanctuary miniatures so the girlies around our xmas table loved them...
Helped to use some smellies up too:hello:No more toiletries challenge :T

Hi all, so today have managed to use up a body scrub and have been religiously using body butter last few days and must say my skin is really really soft. Poped into boots today just to have a look promise, and walked out with nothing yeah!!

I'm doing well at the moment, still not bought anything extra, but it's not really an achievement when I don't actually need to, not even Lush, thanks to Xmas and birthday! Still, that'll go in no time!
I'm about to run out of Anne French cleanser, but I've got a lot of Avene that I won, so I'll switch to that until that's used up. I do need to buy cotton wool, but I'll get that from Tesco, where it's less likely I'll be tempted into any toiletry goodies.
No Boots mailing for me - the cheek! Hmph, wasn't going to use it anyway!0 -
i've been reading this thread from when it started
only now i am i ready to join.
i can hardly admit this although noone here knows me but i have a ROOM for toiletries. typing this makes me want to crythere is no way i can type out what i've got. i do realise i'm a hoarder. and i'm going to deal with it (done it with clothes!). i am going to give some away to family and friends. that will be my first step.
in my defence thoughwithin 10 minute walking radius of my house i've got 4 boots, 2 space nk, 3 lush, 3 neals yard, and plenty more. and although i've been in i've bought nothing. thanks i think in part to this thread. so i've made a start :j

Walked up the toiletries aisle in Tesco today and only lot pain relief liquid. Well impressed. I must admit I did look to see what the bargains were. Also gave away 4 opened tubes of hand & foot creams to my mum as she was running out. Binned quite a lot of really old stuff that would never ever get used. Thanks for the incentive everyone. If I had known then what I know now . . .

Fizzytrinket, I think a photo is in order! Wow. You're very brave. Friends and family will probably warmly welcome some gifts. Dont forget there's mothers day in March and any birthdays that you could start pulling items together for. Also do you know anyone who's just had a baby and would probably welcome some smellies that they can now use.
Hand cream every time I visit this thread:
I have 2 hand lotions next to the keyboard and every time I log onto this thread I will put some on the backs of my hands then rub the backs of them together (like Liz Earle does on QVC I think it is). All this using up toiletries is really highlighting the good from the bad. Eg Body Shop vitamin lotion ok, bit watery. Elemis pro-collagen hand and nail cream, gorg!
This morning I noticed I already have more space in my toiletries drawer. So I went about the house and put the surplus items in that drawer. Just to keep reminding me how much I have. Now realising am beginning to create room in bathroom cabinet for medicines, crikey using stuff what it's supposed to be for!Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. I really need to do this, I was shocked by how much stuff I have when I tried to cram this year's christmas presents into my drawers.......
I reckon i can manage only buying shampoo, conditioner, deoderant and mascara.
I have loads of make-up too, masses of nail varnish especially....... must start to wear it all more, and stop saving things for best!0 -

If it is unopened it may well be ok. When you are ready to use it, open it and have a good smell and check the consistancy, if it looks ok use it up. If not bin it.
DON'T open it if you aren't ready to use it though as it will go off.0 -
i had my boots mailing today as well. Must resist!!!
for those struggling with huge bottles and cluttered bathrooms, what i started doing when i began my challenge was hiding all bar the bottle i was using somewhere where it was accessible but only with a bit of faff (so discouraging me from getting to it more often than was necessary). I would then fill a travel size bottle fom the bottle i wished to uses and put that in my washbag, putting the remainder of the bottle away in the bathroom. This helped to stop me swapping and changing between products out of boredom or other excuses. Every time i finished the travel sized bottle i would top it up from the big bottle until i finished it all. Only then would i allow myself to start something new from the stash. Obviously this would only really work if you don't have family products, in which case you kinda need the communal bottle of shower gel etc.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0
