Hi Everyone
Im new to making bracelets and gradually finding the time to make more.Im starting making a watch strap out of beads at the moment so if its finished I will post photos once I work out how to.
Ive made loads of bracelets recently but forgotten to take photos and theyve been given as gift now : ( I never thought to take photos.
Im obsessed with making things now - its highly addictive...especially ebay for buying things!
I cant find where someone posted it but did someone post a photo of button necklaces made out of wire? as Id love to try making one but couldnt find it.
Also has anyone ever made rings? as I saw a lovely beaded cluster ring in accessorize for £10 so want to make my own (as Im sure I could make a few for that price!).Ive got silver rings which have loops on but trying to work out what to use to get the beads on? do I use tigertail and crimps to get them to stay on? or elastic? any ideas appreciated
I find myself finding admiring bracelets and rings in shops then thinking 'I could make ten for that price!'Weekly Spend Challenge £200 -
Morning all, can I ask how you all package your stuff for posting when someones bought something?
I just wrap mine in tissue paper and a bit of raffia or ribbon and a wee tag saying thanks for purchasing this item and enjoy etc. I dont think they look very good though, I think its because they are tiny.
I was thinking of getting some paper bags and making nicer tags out of luggage tags.
I know how nice it is to get something wrapped prettily.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
I do different types of packaging depending on what the item is I`m sending. I love packaging and paper sculpting!
When something is small its a bit more difficult as you don`t want the item to get lost in the packaging!
Have you thought about those little velvet drawstring pouches that you can get for jewellery they look nice and you can get them in lots of different colours.
Or how about making your own boxes- templates off the internet or use a box you have at home- pull it apart and use that as a template.
I do think that something wrapped in tissue and tied with raffia/ribbon is so lovely tho, you could combine two colours of ribbon and make a thanks tag with a topper on say out of layered punched flowers with a brad in the centre.
Do you have business cards that you could add to your parcel? Moo.com is great for these. They have mini cards which you can design yourself.

Kandipandi - I really like the crystal bracelet, really simple but gorgeous. I think its a great idea for family and friends to give you broken jewellery and you give it back in another form. well done:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -

Gosh, haven't read this thread for a few days and I've missed loads of your lovely makes, so well done everybody who's posted pics.:T
I've been trying to learn some stitches and have finally worked out Right Angle Weave after days of dismal failure and swearing. Thanks to sparklygirl and my library book and You Tube videos; it took the combined effort of these to penetrate my poor old brain.:o
Haven't made anything but practice stuff all week and spent last night and today attempting a free-form Peyote bracelet, but it's all gone a bit wrong. Will post a pic when I finally get it right.

I have been lurking on this thread for a good few days now, looking at all your lovely makes. I used to bead a little some years ago, in a very amateurish fashion, but you have inspired me to have another go.
Fortunately I still have my pliers & wire cutters, plus an assortment of odds & ends in my old bead box. I ordered some pretty beads in shades of blue & green, and some memory wire, from Sanctuary Beads. I thought that would be an easy first project. I am also waiting for some other ebay beads to come, but I couldn't wait to get started. I had a go this morning, but it doesn't look very professional, it needs some larger beads in amongst, and I need to give the layout some more thought..
When my other beads arrive I'll take it apart and try again. I'll post a pic when it's done
Meanwhile, I looked up 'Beadazzle', and found they are not too far away from me, so I have booked myself on a beginners workshop to learn how to make a tigertail necklace, elastic bracelet and earrings. I'm all excited now, can't wait to look around the shop! (No doubt I'll be coming home with even more beads and stuff).
So thanks for the inspiration everyone, and please keep posting pics of your lovely creations. I can't hope to make anything so expert just yet, but I'm hoping practise will make perfect.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0
