    Hi everyone,

i`ve spent all day reading this thread, housework out the window I`m afraid, I must say your crafting is beautiful and I am a complete beginner

The last couple of days I been collecting bits and I wish I`d come here 1st, I`m on another couple of threads, crafting for christmas, organised and money making.

I make cards in my spare time which I`ve been doing just over a year, painting about a year and knitting about 4-6 weeks, I like to have a go of everything. :D

I have a question if you dont mind, when you make a bracelet that 3 or 4 layed, (dont know how to describe it), is it joined together?:o

The other thing is I went on PJ beads site yesterday and placed an order, it came at 7.30am which was excellent service and nice lady even rang me to add an item I`d missed:j, but when I got my order (nothing wrong with it) because I`m new I made a mess of it and some of the beads are large and heavy. I havent a clue what to do with them, and what wire??? do you use.

I was going to try some elastic to make a bracelet but now I`m a bit stuck .:(

Sorry the post is a bit long but I wanted to meet you all and I`ve so much to say xx

    Hi there and welcome,

    PJ beads are really good.
The memory wire bracelet base can be found here http://www.beadsales.co.uk/retail/#3825X6538 only 15p each.
I was going to say the same as sparkly about the size of the beads you ordered which ones were they?
    Was it these?

These are the 100g bead mixes. I have used these on memory wire bracelets before but have spaced them out between other beads such as bicones and pearls otherwise the bracelet will be too heavy.

  • I made this for one of my friend`s birthdays today.
Its good old memory wire threaded with lots of lovely beads in reds and blacks.

Thankyou for the replies!! I like the idea but I would just sit and make things up and they would be for nothing/no one!!....

Ha ha, that's what I'm doing. I hope one day I'll be confident enough to buy more expensive materials and sell my things. The stuff I'm making now is all dirt cheap and it shows, with that and my crude workmanship they're only good for practice - RustyFlange, you won't know unless you try! It's good fun.

This is my first non-memory wire bracelet. Took me ages and I faffed around with the loops on my headpins so much that loads of the cheapo SP flaked off. Still finding consistent loops quite difficult.

Are there enough beads on here? What do you think?

The earrings on the right are the long cascade ones that I looped up - I like them better like this. The picture doesn't do them justice, they're nice and sparkly in real life. The amber coloured ones are just foil beads with SP wire wrapped around.

Nice to see some new people with questions on here, so now I'm not the newest! This was the first site I looked at and I found it very helpful for the basics:
    http://www.how-to-make-beaded-jewelry.com/index.html

Also there are some good vids on YouTube and there's an online american bead shop that has very good instructive videos, I'll try and find it and post link. The ladies on here are very helpful too.:A

Haven't posted on this board for a while so thought I would come and have a nosey.

Do any of you work with resin at all? I've just started it and absolutely love the stuff.

Here are some of my recent makes.

I am in the process of building up stock for a website. The above pictures are just a small selection of what I do. I work with a wide range of things from glass tiles, scrabble, resin, fimo, beads etc.

I don't do just pretty things either, I do kitsch, retro, and all sorts of stuff.

Anyhow just thought I would come say hi and show you some things I do xx

ikkle, I love your stuff!! So cute :)

    I'm jealous.

Those resin pieces with the flowers inside remind me of when I was little - they used to have a booth at the seaside that sold similar looking items but made of glass - they had little flowers and your name inside them. You are clever!

Aw thanks, :) I can put names and things inside the resin, and pictures and things, the flowers I used are made from fimo lol. I have only just started with resin a few weeks ago, really hooked though now. x

The american site I was thinking of earlier with the jewellery making demonstration videos was this one:
    http://www.beaducation.com/?p=free_classes

Not as good as I thought it was but some useful tips on there.

Ikkle, I had a Plasticraft kit for Xmas when I was about 11 yrs old and I loved it, but I didn't know you still get that kind of thing for home use. For some reason I thought it was banned.

Susan welcome, i cant wait to see your creations once you get addicted!

Princess I love that chunky mem wire bracelet, I always go for reasonably small beads i must branch out!

Thistle - your bracelet is beautiful - your loops look fine to me. Also I would say that there are enough beads on already, but perhaps try it on and see what it looks like on as they will look more sparce once you wear it.
I had all kinds of problems getting nice loops (still do) , I did a workshop where she taught us how to do them but still mess em up sometimes. Your earrings look brill too.

Ikkle love the resin stuff - its brilliant, even more personal when you are actually making the bits you use. The photo in the bag charm one is that one you made? And where do you get your resin stuff from (oh dear I can see another obsession coming on)?
