Re Fimo beads and holes, this is a post that I put elsewhere when I had made some beads and was asked how I got the holes in without deforming the beads....

he bicones were actually the easiest, what I did was rest the fat bit on the pad of my middle finger, and rested the slopy bit on the pad of my pointing finger (the one next to the thumb, dunno what the real name is undecided.gif ), the used my ring finger pad as a rest for the pointy thing (I have a sculpy tool with a pointy needle on) and then turn the piercer as I pushed it through, once I felt the point on my pointing finger, I took the bead off, reversed it and then did it again from the 2nd hole formed, it was the oval beads and the round ones that I found deformed more, but then a few of the bicones went a bit squiffy at times!

Just don't grip them too tightly, and rotate the sharp point that you are using to pierce with as you do it.

These were the beads in question

I know this is a silly question and probably been asked before

I want to make my daughter a "pandora" style bracelet - where do I get the bracelet bit from?
Are they called something special as I have looked on a few websites and they don't seem to have any - I am probably being a bit dull - can anyone help?

    Thanks

Sorry, I know I am always bleating about Jillybeads, but they sell the bracelet bits - have a look at the link here look at beads, then charm beads and scroll to near the bottom, they are £2.70 each, they also sell the charms. Most bead places sell them at the minute.

    Hi everyone,

i`ve spent all day reading this thread, housework out the window I`m afraid, I must say your crafting is beautiful and I am a complete beginner

The last couple of days I been collecting bits and I wish I`d come here 1st, I`m on another couple of threads, crafting for christmas, organised and money making.

I make cards in my spare time which I`ve been doing just over a year, painting about a year and knitting about 4-6 weeks, I like to have a go of everything. :D

I have a question if you dont mind, when you make a bracelet that 3 or 4 layed, (dont know how to describe it), is it joined together?:o

The other thing is I went on PJ beads site yesterday and placed an order, it came at 7.30am which was excellent service and nice lady even rang me to add an item I`d missed:j, but when I got my order (nothing wrong with it) because I`m new I made a mess of it and some of the beads are large and heavy. I havent a clue what to do with them, and what wire??? do you use.

I was going to try some elastic to make a bracelet but now I`m a bit stuck .:(

Sorry the post is a bit long but I wanted to meet you all and I`ve so much to say xx

  • hi Susan, its good to try out all these crafts, the problem is theres so many of them to choose from :) I have just discovered kumihimo - the art of braiding and weaving using beads, the patterns are endless and Im slowly becoming more and more hooked.

The bracelet you mentioned in layers, have a look at Kandipandis bracelet on the previous page, the lovely lilac and purple one, in which case yes its made with one piece of memory wire which you can find in most bead stores.

what sort of beads did you get that are large and heavy? do you mean they have large holes? (they might be pandora beads?) if so you can buy bracelets that will fit the beads exactly.

let me know what type of beads you got from PJ beads and I'll try to be a bit more helpful :)
