    :p
following on from Kandipandi's great suggestion, have a look at the silver corporation aswell. I use them quite often as they have a good selection of ends including some glue on ends too - I've never tried the glue variety though so I dont know how good they are. It took me a while to get the hang of crimping so you might just need a bit of practice, also make sure you have a good pair of crimping pliers and you'll soon get the knack of it in no time.

Totally agree, I don't wear glasses everyday but sometimes when doing fiddly bits I wear those cheap reading glasses to magnify what it is I'm doing - I do this when I'm crimping. They are zebra patterned and everyone laughs at me when I wear em, I don't care :p

Thanks for all your replies - I'm off to have another go!
It's the split rings I'm havig trouble with (they're the things I said were like the keyring thing) they're just so damn small that I'm struggling to link them together
I can't see a picture of the finding I'm using to put the wire in at the mo - I'll take a pic whilst I'm upstairs.

ETS: Was lying - they're there on jillybeads - they're called end fasteners
  • hi dawnteabag Ive just had a look a youtube and there is a video on how to use the end fasteners. The video is by "makejewellery."
    Hope this helps.

Thanks - found myself a nice little bead shop today in town so might pop there and show them what i was doing so they can tell me how to improve technique.

Anyhow, my button necklaces are complete. Pics on my blog - link in my profile - choose 'just the pics' from the menu on the left hand side just under the 'over the top blog award'

Thanks Mary - They'll be collectors pieces because I can't imagine I'll make many more - what a faff! I'll stick with the papercraft.
That said, both my sisters now want one so I'll have to do at least a couple more.
My buttons were all from a button box that I bought at a car boot a year or so ago. I suspect it was from a house clearance. It'll keep me going for ages!

dawn - I know how fiddly they are...........nearly gave up a few times but in the end I got four done.......now working on bracelets and getting in a pickle......think the elastic cotton (shirring is it called?) is perhaps a bit too thin and I really need some needles that take the thread but still go through the holes in the buttons. Looking at instructions it seems like I have to double the thread but I can only get it through the needles single if you know what I mean............think it's back to the drawing board or a quick visit to local sewing shop to see what they've got.
I was so thrilled I could create a few pressies for free with mums old buttons.................lol

Yeah me too - I needed a quick present idea and thought I had everything I needed so it would be MSE
Except I had to buy some findings.........
Then when I got them home I realised I didn't have enough wire.........
Then I messed up the findings and had to buy some more.........
Then I realised I'd messed them up because I was using the wrong pliers so I had to buy some more.

I reckon my MSE ideas has cost me £25 ish so far. :rotfl:
