Lovely pictures everyone - I'm very impressed :T! Love the sets you've done Poppy - great colours.

I'm just wondering about people's thoughts on sterling silver and silver plated beading wire/findings/beads etc. I've been making quite a few items and yesterday ordered some more expensive beads as I've built up my confidence :D. I want to make some presents with these that will hopefully look professional and last well. Is it best to get sterling silver or silver plated? Or does it not really matter if you get either? Also, does anyone have any suggestions for where to get these from at a reasonable price?

    Thank you! :)

    Me again....
Defo the sterling silver as for findings - its not expensive and has a lovely finish.
If you use silver plated findings then keep the finished products in self seal/zip lock bags to prevent tarnishing.

  • Wow...what a brilliant day I have had.:j
I took a small box of things I have made this week to my sons mums and tots group to show my friends.

They were asking the prices...so "on the hoof"

    I said

    Mobile Dangles were £2 each
    Large Handbag Charms £4
    Memory Wire Bracelet £5

I sold over £20 worth of stuff and got the same in orders for next week.

I had to put a Jillys beads order in when I got home:eek:....I though this was suposed to be moneysaving....lol

Oh well, it's keeping my hands out of the biscuit tin....ha ha;)

I think in future I'll avoid the charity shops and try a few carboots :) I've avoided them for years as I get addicted to them LOL But maybe if I have something specific to go for... :)

  • Hi Everyone,

    Lovely pics :T:T

I've made a few memory wire bracelets, nothing too flash but struggling with the end on the round nose pliers. Think i need to sit down with some videos on You Tube then lots of practise.

At the moment the bracelets have cellotape on them to stop the beads falling off. Looks really classy :rotfl:

    Will post pics soon promise.

Pliers... will any set do or should I bite the bullet and spend £20 on a decent set? :) Any recommendations on makes? :)

  • You need to grasp to end of the wire as close to the edge as you can get it turn so far to half a loop, then reposition the pliers again to finish the loop.

Can`t wait to see your pics!

I got my pliers from Hobbycraft bought them individually and they have been really good despite hubby borrowing them for DIY:eek:

I would spend a bit more on them if you plan to make lots of jewellery.
Also you have the option of foam handles on some pliers to help prevent blisters and enable a better grip for some people.
