Bit of an update guys, sorry its been a while!

Obviously i havnt been the only with this problem over the last few weeks!

People have said it could have been dangerous for the driver on that day - we were not not hit with the weather like the rest of the country here, the roads were fine, not a problem with them.

Geordie joe, we normally drive in, both me, my father and mother can drive, however both cars were in town after the previous night out with family. Car sharing? Its only me and him who work there! Mum was not going to drive as she was in bed sleeping in before the big Christmas cook :)

Pmduk, its a council run bus.

kwaks, as i said above, ive been driving for 3 years and father for over 30, i think we are qualified :)

We had a chat with the normal regular driver the following week, apparently the driver that was on on Christmas eve is known to leave out the last 2 miles of the trip and does the easier, less time consuming option of turning round in the village 1.5 miles before our pickup. The regular driver has put in a complaint with the management of the service/company.

On a side note, obviously we havnt had a bus service for a while now, and we have only had one pass of the grit lorry 4 days ago, the only one since last feb in that freeze! Ice is now 1.5 inch thick on the road, so i dont think we are going anywhere!

For the people that did have suggestions instead of flaming me because you thought i lived in a town with more than 3 buses a day and thought it was completely frozen i thank you. To those who did just flame and complain, please, in future, just ask questions instead of going to the emoticons for new members! Thanks again guys :)

I'm confused would like to complain because the bus never turned up or more the fact you was made to be late for work?

I've got to say last week I was quite hacked of at work. I live in the North West and we had quite a lot of snow for days.
I think on the one day the whole of my department was late for work due to snow. Well I made it work on time everyday via public transport. I even left the house an hour earlier than I normally would to ensure I got to work on time.

I think buses being cancelled/late are poor excuses for being late for work etc. If in doubt leave the house earlier !

We left the house at 6.30am on wed, we are usually in work by 7.10am (by car) we didnt get to work till 8.44am

How much earlier should I have left the house?

Thats a silly thing to say.

I'd now go back to the council and point out the problem with the driver deciding his own routes. It's their job to manage these things. Get a Councillor involved perhaps? Complain to the Traffic Commissioners as this is against the terms of their licence and could affect their duty discounts. Finally, google the National Federation of Bus Users, they used to be in Hampshire but may have moved. They operate something with a name similar to the Bus Appeals Board

Bully for you. It's simply not reasonable to expect someone to pay £25 for a taxi or to leave hours earlier in order to get to work because of the weather.
If someone is regularly being late due to public transport then fair enough, they clearly need to consider getting an earlier bus but if they are late because public transport is cancelled or delayed due to extreme weather conditions then it's not their fault.

I got up earlier when it snowed & was waiting 40 minutes for a bus. If I'd left the house earlier all that would have happened would have been that I would have been waiting even longer in the freezing cold.

Reasonable employers will anticipate such problems & be reasonable.
