I'm a little ahead then, as I turned 30 last week. Had another birthday pressie today. A couple of friends popped over & they'd done me a 'movie night in hamper' with Forgetting Sarah Marshall on DVD (been meaning to buy it for months!), some Malteasers, cider (:D), crisps and popcorn. :T We've also booked to see Priscilla at the theatre next week. Wanted to see it when Jason was still in it, but the months flew by and we never got round to it.

Speaking of not getting around to things, I still haven't gotten any stitching done. That's a week and a half now...

    Hello, helpful cross stitch buddies!

I am wondering if any of you use a floor stand for your scrolls. I own a scroll (as you probabaly saw in my picture, hah) and I am thinking about giving myself a six-months-early birthday present like this one:....

Oh yeah, I forgot, I'm not allowed to post links yet. Okay, that's no matter. My local Joan Fabrics has a Deluxe Hardwood Scroll Frame Floor Stand.Any advice? Is it as useful as it seems? Are there any features I ought to be holding out for?

    Thanks kindly!
May your needle stay threaded, your stitches even, and may the goddess keep your tangles far away. :)

I'm No36 in a cross stitch challenge I don't quite understand yet, but my goal is to be done all the stitches on my UFO before Christmastime!

    Hi Cassolete
I have one and previously had a different one and I would suggest that you make sure that the feet are big enough to support the weight of your scroll frame. One of my early ones used to fall forward on to me, which wasn't to bad for stitching but I always had to prop it up against the wall when I left it which was a pain.

Sorry I've not been posting much. My very slow laptop has gone away for a bit of therapy and the one I have on loan to replace it is even slower. How it hasn't gone through the window yet I have no idea. Anyway I am, sort of, keeping up but opening every new page takes over a minute and scrolling down freezes the page for several seconds each time, and since I'm not very patient it is driving me insane!!!

Stocking is coming along nicely but won't get bottom half done by next week. Have a teething baby so having lots of cuddles instead.

Hope to be back with you all properly very soon

I have never had a floor stand but recently I have been thinking about this one http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/db.cgi
Purely because it has (and I quote) **Unique swivel and flip top makes checking the back of your work quick and easy**
I like to check the back of my work quite often so that feature would be ideal for me.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

    Hi there

I use the rolling frames for my large project - floral alphabet and golden earth. I have a clip thing I can attach them to for a floor stand but find it quite uncomfortable. Like the one below

    posilock.jpg

So I have just use the frame and hold with the hand I am not using. Like if I am putting the neddle in with my right hand I hold with my left hand and when I put the neddle from back to front I hold with my right hand and needle on left hand. I can flip it any time to check back if need be and to secure stitching.

    Frames like I use:

    rot.jpg

You can get a variety of sizes.

I just rest the frame on me. The material is attached using masking tape (not pins like I used to - found out what it does it you don't do your UFO for a long time).

    Hopefully you understand my ramblings.

    sweetcarer ;)

PS Ruth - I will share my tea with you if I can have a malteasser :)
:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j
