my main prob is my gas central heating is tied up in all my other renovations--hes done the solid wood flooring/part kitchen/shower/bathroom.
if hes not gas safe registered--im going to hav to rip up my new flooring--nightmare.
i contacted a local builder who is gas safe registered and he said he wouldnt finish job as he doesnt know whats underneath.
he would hav to start from scratch
my builder is coming back after holiday break---what do i do?
ive checked register with his company name and there not on it?
he could say he sub-contracted it out and someone else did it---i was at work£48515 interest £181 (2009)debt/mortgage-MFIT/T2/T3

Oh well, if the builder subcontracted, then he can keep subcontracting, but you still need to see a Gas Safe registration number. A proper registered heating engineer will provide a commissioning report, on which there will be his registration number. It's like a Tony Blair university degree certificate, dubious, but better than nothing.0

You cannot do any part of gas if your not gas safe.
Since we are a gas safe company, we WOULD NOT commission a boiler or final connection if someone else has done the pipework. This is because we cannot visually inspect the pipework before you do a tightness test. Also, the gas safe certificate takes around 6 weeks once the company / person has informed gas safe an installation has taken place.
Report the person to gas safe and they will get onto the fitter. You have to do an ACS course then register with gas safe to become gas safe registered and that costs beyond £10000 -

If he is not giving his gas safe number then i doubt he is gas safe registered. He can check at gas safe register by name or postcode, so i suggest he tired to find the installer that way. And im saying report if he isnt gas safe because it costs companys well over £1000 to get each employee to work on gas in training fees. Unsure why it takes upto 6 weeks, this is just what we are told and tell our customers.0

And Corgi was the same time frame for issuing certificates but they didn't seam to bother about unsafe gas fitters, more about making profit0

its upto 6 weeks, and normally takes 2 weeks for the certificate to come thou. (seen it with my own boiler) Also, your allowed to work on gas if your NOT gas safe registered, as long as you have an ACS qualification and do not charge anything to install gas0

And reading all of the above, he has said the builder who has put the pipes in (gas F,R,H,C) and isn't providing a gas safe number is illegal. Gas safe members cannot just turn up and test the gas system, as anything could have been used where you can't see ie plastic, pipes not clipped correctly, PTFE tape insted of Gas Tape etc etc.
I would be wary if the builder has done everything and then gets someone to commission it0 -
im 100% certain he did it himself never sub-contracted.even if he gets someone to say they sub-contracted theres a question over job.
the main copper pipe which comes thru floor hallway---which eventualy connects to gas mains is 60mm(2.4 inch) from an electrical switch(double socket)british gas engineer who connected up my flat--commented on it.£48515 interest £181 (2009)debt/mortgage-MFIT/T2/T3
