Hi, would love to join you ladies, I have lurked since just before christmas and was amazed and inspired by how much you all get done.

I do make all my own cards and have just cut up last years recieved christmas cards to recycle into cards for this year. I also do scrapbooking, quilling and cross stitch. I would love to be able to knit but when I tried to make a scarf it ended up the shape of a pair of y-fronts!!!

Seen so many things I would like to try but with nearly 2 year old twins I don't get much spare time. Come the evenings I'm shattered but I manage to get a few bits done.

Don't be discouraged with your bear, when i knit my first rabbit it had more holes etc and did not look much like the picture, my second was better and well my third looked exactly like the picture.

Welcome Stepmum. We're all very friendly here so I'm sure you will enjoy this board.

You sound a bit like me - inspiration overload - but at some point I'm going to have to calm down and pick the things I can reasonably achieve rather than plan to do everything that appeals and fail!!! It will be a hard choice!:confused:

Well, I've finished snow bear... and I'm sure you'll agree he's adorable. Sitting 11cm high seated, he's so dinky and cute. I've added pics and info to my blog and a link to the pattern is also on my blog. The original pattern had him sewn wrong side facing, but I've done him right-side facing. Not too much difference with him being fluffy, but matters to me.

Thank you quiksave for posting the link!:D

jollymummy I do that all the time now, except I print directly onto the card, it's a really nice personal touch, we put a recent photo on the card, so distant rellies can see how DD is growing up!

    Thanks Nikki,

Can I also ask are thermometers essential for soapmaking? I have a book which says the oils and caustic need to be the same temperature before blending so not sure whether I need to invest or not?

A few people on the HM soap thread don't use them. Theres a really useful post by EagerLearner that has a link to a foolproof way of making the soap. It even has pictures which I think is better than just reading the recipe sometimes.

If I could figure out how to use the lye calculator id be away, just so scared of caustic soda. I was just going to use the 'melt and pour' but you can only add 5% (may be out slightly) of extra's
