Today I picked up a new mag from WH Smiths. It does say 'New Launch' on the cover so it must be new. It's called Simply Handmade and is a small square magazine, almost like a book. It's £5.99 but I felt it was worth it after flicking through and seeing what was inside and the quality of the mag. With mags these days tending to be sealed into plastic you never quite know what you are getting, so I was glad to be able to have a flick through.

The website shown on the front cover of the mag is www.simplyhandmade.co.uk however when you go to this, it take you to a domain registration page???

Anyway, googling it has given the link to their Australian counterpart
http://northridgemedia.net/blogs/simplyhandmade/ and this blog likewise is full of inspiration.

That blog is fab... have you seen the tiny gingerbread houses... so cute!

Haven't even started anything yet unless you count covering a book shaped box I had some notelets in and a nice Organiser and notebook to match -might do someone for a birthday or christmas.
Love the cocktail sticks...........I've got some of those in the cupboard lurking at the back.............good idea :T

Must stop looking at links and blogs...........brain's running into overload..................:rotfl:
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

  • Hi Everyone,

    Happy New Year!:j

I would love to join in as well if I may.
I am not all that crafty, with regards to sewing or knitting. But I do love to bake and made my 1st 2 cards today (1 Christmas and 1 for my Gran's 90th birthday later in the year)

I intend to make some Snowman Soup, Pots of Gold and homemade gifts like jams, and homebaking anad sweets, as presents for Christmas this year.

I will post photo's of the cards I have made a little later, as I would love to know what others think of them.

    I look forward to having a creative 2010!! :D

    Thanks

When i was in harrods in december i seen some cocktiail sticks with holders on the top. They were 6 for £6!!!!! So i came home and made about 100 and used them a couple days ago at a party.

Susan, these are lovely. Guess it could be another use for old Christmas cards.
  • I'd like to join in this too please, my mum and I are going to be making some things to sell at craft fairs later in the year.

She is going to be knitting things, and I will crocheting and hopefully sewing if I can save up enough for a little sewing machine.

    Look forward to exchanging tips!

was someone asking about felting? You can do it a few ways- you can agitate it in the washing machine (everyone has done this at some point in their lives- nice wooly jumper goes in the washer and comes out doll size) you can do it by hand by using washing up liquid and warm water and squeezing it about and then there's needle felting where you get your item and poke it over and over again with a barbed needle.
Hope I haven't bored you all to death.

    Hi!

As you can see this is my first post, although I have lurked around for many years now. I would love it if you would allow me to take part in this crafty thread! I love cooking and my rocky road is to die for. I also make my own cards and sell alot of my handmade bowls in my shop, but I can't afford to spend loads this year and I want to craft even more so I am looking to you all in pure inspiration xxx
