Hi chaps
Not been on here for a while but good to see you've all been busy! I dragged DH to a boot fair last weekend and picked up a really nice beaded belt for £2 and six skeins of mohair wool for 30p. I'm going to make wristwarmers with the mohair (hopefully it won't turn out scratchy) but I need to buy a circular needle first and learn how to use it. I've made 20 of the 24 crochet pockets I need for my hanging advent calendar. Just need to work out how to attach them together now. The pattern I saw uses a bag handle but to be honest it looked a bit rubbish so I was thinking of trying a wire coat hanger. I'll post pics when it's finished.
Also made a button bracelet which turned out quite well. Has anyone tried anything other than elastic to thread them together? I want to sell them at a craft fair and it'd be good to have them looking more expensive without actually costing any more! I'm now also in need of more buttons so off to hunt for bargains on eBay!0 -

Only thing I wanted to suggest was for the hamper instead of using a basket perhaps you could use a plastic mixing bowl instead - I found Wilkinson do some nice cheap things - I did my sister a baking hamper the year before last and she had all of the cheap 'value' things - like cookie cutters, icing set, spatulas, tea towels, apron, large mixing bowl as the basket etc and they all colour co ordinated in white and baby blue - then I got her a nice baby blue notepad that I decorated and hand wrote soem recipes into of our favourite things we made as kids.Time to find me again0 -
Just to say that I went into The Works today and they had loads of clearance stuff. Lots of handmade papers and embellishments from 25p. Picked up quite a few bits which I'll probably make some cards and gift tags out of.
Also, somebody came into work with a load of plates stacked up between round yellow spongey layers. I've kept the spongey layers but don't know what to do with them. But I'm sure they have a use! The only thing I can think of is as padding for quilting but I can't sew for toffee. Anyone any ideas?0 -
