pepop - well I've only done a little one for mums friends niece............took me quite a few days and it was only a small chipboard one but now I've done it I'm quite pleased with it.............its a sort of potted history of mum so I might work on that sort of thing only more so if you know what I mean.
There's a scrapbooking thread on here that might be helpful..........if you type it in the search box you'll find it. Some of the girls on the Making Cards thread do them as well.
Don't know of any specific sites to use.......I've trawled round so many I got confused. Good luck
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

stepmum - isn't knitting the best? I only took it up myself a month ago and I enjoy it so much. I do get strange looks when I do my knitting on the tube and I even got my picture taken once, but I don't care now :) Can we see the octopus?

I don't think that I can post pics yet. Maybe that's for the best :rotfl:
I do love it. Frustratingly I have a friend who knits and sells her things, she sits chatting and knitting and doesn't even need to look!!! I refuse to knit infront of her as I think I would get cross!!

Mine too - they got faster when she got angry and if there wasn't anything worth watching she'd read the paper and knit at the same time!

laurad - gorgeous ring, gorgeous blog, gorgeous bridesmaid cards - fabby!

I am really needing to get a move on because after having big ideas for my niece's first birthday it is now fast approaching (end of April). I had planned to make her a sort of scribble book as she is just starting to draw, so have made up some pages on the computer with things to look at/colour in, then the idea is to intersperse these with some interesting patterned scrapbook papers and some blank pages, so she can have her own little book to look at and scribble in. Don't know if it's a totally mad idea! Have got lots of instructions from the web about how to put the book together, but don't know how easy it will be in real life.

I've made her an apron out of a pretty tea towel (as on http://ourdailychocolate.blogspot.com/2009/01/dollar-store-craftiness.html), must try and post a pick as I'm realy pleased with it, also managed to make 3 pockets in the bottom of it as it was going to be too long. I will give her some crayons too, maybe will get a little pencil case for her.

I'm not sure what to do then, because it doesn't seem like much but has taken loads of effort. I reckon it'll have cost me about £10 altogether for materials, so perhaps I'll get her some clothes too as she might need some (my two are boys so their hand-me-downs are no good).

I got the tea towel in a pack of 3 and the two I'm left with are lovely. Back in the old days (ie before you lot!) I'd have just used them in my kitchen, but they are now stashed in case of future craftiness!

This isn't Christmassie but I thought you might all like a look at it anyway. Take a close look at the detail on the hair.

This isn't crafting for Christmas, but going to throw it out anyway.

My sister is 22 at the end of April and I want to try to make something for her. She likes nothing better than wrapping herself in a blanket to watch tv, so what do you think of getting a plain throw/blanket and then decorating the bottom of it with buttons, or embellishments, etc? Or am I being a silly person?
