Sorry no sock monkey photos yet, will try to sort tomorrow. A very dear friend died suddenly in the night, not even 60yrs old, so today has been a weird kind of a day

  • hi everyone

id love to join this year was a lurker last year, despite never actually learning to sew properly i managed 2 sock monkeys for my 2 dd's along with a home made advent calender each, home made tags, dolls blankets and sweetie bags for everyone .

This year i'm planning the sock doggies (they were posted on the 2009 thread), snowman soup, and i would love to start a patchwork quilt for my 2 dd's (this may be an idea to far) advent calendar each and a couple of hampers.

I'm currently looking through john lewis as im thinking of buying a sewing machine but i have to say i dont think ive ever used one, Seen one instore at john lewis own make in blue pink or green for £50 and thing i might treat mself to one of these.

Hi everyone, I'm a new poster to the christmas moneysaving threads, but have spent quite a few months reading and learning and reading some more through all the detailed posts on here.

As a result this Christmas, I made Pots of gold, Gift Hampers, Snowman Soup, Flannel Reindeer, Calendar Coasters and ALL were received with so much enthusiasm it made it all worthwhile!

So, as I only found these threads and the Nappy Cake thread in October/November time, I'm planning on being a lot more organised for 2010! and maybe just maybe i may make it money neutral too?! doubt it but we'll see!!

I have a few new babies (not mine) coming along who will be getting nappy cakes, I plan on all birthdays to be themed Hampers of some sort or other - AND big AND here - I am going to try making my own cards and seeing if enjoy that. Not sure if it is my thing, but will have a go on a very small scale first!

However, the bottom line is, I couldn't have done it without being inspired by all you friendly, crafty, thrifty, creative and artistic bunch.

Thanks a billion and looking forward to 2010 now! :)

Crayon rolls are fabulous. I made a couple this year. My local quilting shop sells some lovely coordinated fabrics so I got my fabrics there, cost me £5 for about 6 pieces that went well together, my favourite was the snakes and lizards fabric, amazing colours.
