Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Christmas Eve! It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Merry Christmas everyone. Of Course it's still Christmas eve here in Milwaukee Wisconsin USA, but I guess you will all be waking up soon.....

Hi all! Rum has been involved

Have had SUCH a busy day. I did clean the bathroom and mop, strip bed, air, make, sort washing mountain, tidy hoover room and spare room, tidy back living room, mop kitchen, do dishes, bleach mugs, the list goes on and on. Im sure everyone else has had a hectic day.:D:D:eek:

Brother came to help prepare christmas dinner and we managed to make the mash potatoes , roast potatoes par boiled ready to splash hot fat on, parsnips ready to be sweet roasted (after an experiment as i overboiled them), brocolli chopped etc. Plates out and waiting. Don't think I can prepare anything else!:rotfl:

We made Peanut butter cookies - OH YUM! Friend had never made anything so was super impressed to be involved so sent him home with a bag.

Anyway, hope you all have a genuiinely fab day. My dinner should take an hour tomorrow because of my prep today. I just hope it all fits in the oven! :j:j:j

Well, it's all done! :j There were times when I didn't think we'd ever get there but we did! I'm completely knackered but hopefully tomorrow will mean it's all been worth it.

I'm just finishing off my glass of wine and about to go to bed and wanted to raise a toast everyone on Old Style and thank you all for your friendship, support, help and ideas. Cheers everyone. :beer:

I just wanted to say that it has been a privilege to spend another year with you all on this wonderful forum and of course this thread in particular, and also to send to those of you who have lost someone close to you this year or cannot be with your family for whatever reason. I hope the day is as good as it can be for you.

Also sending love and thoughts to those spending the day alone or who are ill or worried today.

Just about to put Torvil the 22lb Turkey into the oven. We will cook it upside down on a very low temperature for a good long time and just turn it the right way up and uncover for about 30 mins til it is nicely browned!

I wish you all a happy and loving Christmas holiday, (however long that is for you!) and look forward to sharing and laughing and commiserating with you all much more in the New Year.

Special gentle (((hugs))) to Smokey and the Smokelets, and Cranky and George.

Unlike most of you, I am having a lazy time of it because we are spending the day and tonight with very good friends, so, for a change, I haven't had to spend the day knee-deep in prepping! I have our box of goodies ready to take - several cheeses, several choccies, some wine and some pressies.

I hope you all have a wonderful day today, and that all your wishes come true.

i`ve just had my first cuppa of the day as i woke on the sofa with DH next to me in the chair, DH has now gone to bed for a couple of hours but i shall stay up now and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Yesterday was manic but brilliant, most of all because the weather didn`t stay as cold and didn`t turn icy so we decided to make the trip to visit Mum. The only really hairy part was when we left the main roads to enter the village but it was well worth it. Mum is feeling quite a good bit better now and it has made my Christmas that we got to spend some time together so all in all i`m a happy bunny now

I`m going to pop into the kitchen to make another cuppa but i shall come back and relax for a while before i start a few things off in there,
it`s lovely to just sit here with the tree twinkling away and all the animals around me. I feel very lucky and content.

I hope that everyones day is wonderful, ((((HUGS)))) for anyone who is ill or under the weather.

I don't post here often, but I lurk a lot, I would just like to thank everyone for their help and kindness over the last year, you are all lovely people.
