You ordered from the wrong store. We had our Asda delivery arrive during the bad snow, and it was even snowing more at the time! They were even on time. :) Good ol' Asda.

Surely it is more to do with where you live in relation to your store? I know the roads between my home and Tesco are quite good, so they are pretty reliable. But if you lived in the back of beyond, half way up a mountian track in a blizzard, that reliabilty may not be so good, whichever store you use.
  • I am a delivery driver for Tesco. Unfortunately we have had the worst winter up north in 30 years. Two feet of snow in places. Roads ungritted and therefore impassable. We have tried our best to get customers orders out to them, resulting in vans being stuck in some pretty remote areas. I had to be rescued twice in three days because of the appalling conditions! A three mile hike back to a main road in freezing temperatures, or waiting until 1am to be rescued by our wonderful police is not my idea of a fun night!!
Whilst I can understand customers frustration at the inconvenience of not receiving their groceries or having their orders cancelled, I should like to point that the safety of the drivers and the vehicles is of paramount importance!
If you cannot get your car OUT, we cannot get our vans IN!
    Regards.

You'll only have a chance at compensation if you have suffered as a direct result of the order cancellation, even then it could only be a few quids worth of vouchers.
  • Our shopping was delivered 2 days before Christmas eve during the first heavy bout of snow, I called Tesco first thing in the morning and told them the road was really bad and I doubted the driver would be able to get to us so could we reschedule. They said that they would call me back if they needed to reschedule but the driver would try to get to us.

The driver turned up that evening and when I asked how he had made it up my road he showed me that he had parked the van at the very end of our road and had wheeled all of our shopping up to our house - he had do this is in two trips through the snow (we also live at the top of a hill). I was so impressed I offered him a cup of tea and gave him a tip - but he just said he didn't want to ruin anyones Christmas by them not getting their shopping!

For the record, even though this shopping contained all of our Christmas day/boxing day food and for the rest of the month - there was nothing in there that I wouldn't have done without rather than the driver risking his neck to come and deliver. I certainly wouldn't have expected compensation for a driver not risking his life so I can stuff my face over Christmas!

Tesco have cancelled my delivery tonight because the driver has had an accident.

I'm annoyed because they first of all told me that they would deliver 12 hours later which was fine, but they then called to say that they couldn't deliver for another 48 hours.

I called the customer services department and they told me that they would refund the payment but it would take 3-5 working days to be returned into my account.

What if that was the only money I had to get food and nappies for my children. I'm lucky that this is not the case but there are loads of famlilies out there on a very tight budget and can't afford to wait for their much needed cash to be refunded.

I did receive a £5 discount code to spend on my next shop.

How about your concern for someone who got in an accident?
