They dont have to refund you, they don't take the money. It's "reserved". It remains in your account and i think the time lapse is more to do with the bank, or so i have heard.

You have a one sided view on this, do you expect Tesco drivers to risk driving in this weather so the likes of you and OP can get there brussel sprouts. Or maybe you do. Tesco cannot control the weather, its not as if its ideal for them, after all they lose the business of the OP, there fore this situation is lose lose and both parties lose equally.

Where did I mention the weather

I don't have a one sided view at all. I don't expect anyone to take a risk, my point is with the money side of it, not the weather

It riles me that companies can take a payment within seconds, but to have a refund takes days.

As far as I was aware, They process the refund straight away, However it's due to the banks time scales that it takes 3-5 days.

I may be wrong but thats how I thought it worked
  • My tesco delivery didn't arrive. This was about 2 weeks ago. They didn't call me to let me know and by 11pm, when it finally dawned on me they weren't coming, I wasn't able to get through to the store or to .com.

They didn't take the money for the shopping, but refunded me what it would have costed me plus £10 online voucher for the inconvenience for not letting me know.

Seems odd that they deal with situations with no consistency. And this was down to bad weather too
Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

You ordered from the wrong store. We had our Asda delivery arrive during the bad snow, and it was even snowing more at the time! They were even on time. :) Good ol' Asda.

Tesco have cancelled my delivery tonight because the driver has had an accident.

I'm annoyed because they first of all told me that they would deliver 12 hours later which was fine, but they then called to say that they couldn't deliver for another 48 hours.

I called the customer services department and they told me that they would refund the payment but it would take 3-5 working days to be returned into my account.

What if that was the only money I had to get food and nappies for my children. I'm lucky that this is not the case but there are loads of famlilies out there on a very tight budget and can't afford to wait for their much needed cash to be refunded.

I did receive a £5 discount code to spend on my next shop.
  • You need to take the timescale for the refund up with the banks not Tesco. We have a similar thing at work, we refund a customer and the funds leave our account immediately but it can take 3-5 days for the customer to see it pop into their account. I've never understood why it takes so long but it's all to do with our lovely banking system.

Just some quick calculations interest on £200 for 10 days is around half a penny @ 0.1% if you had tied up in a bond at say 5% it would be more like 27p so wouldn't expect much in the way of compensation.

    How is the driver ?

Don't know. All I was told is that the driver had an accident in one of the housing schemes and that they would deliver 12 hours later than agreed. They then called very late last night and delayed again by 48 hours.

My husband works for Tesco and if any suppliers are late to the distribution centres, Tesco fine the company so they are able to claim compensation even if the situation is out of of everyone's control, but as a customer we are not.

I want to make it clear that I am not "erupting like a paranoid buckaroo", demanding compensation but wanted to share my experience of shopping online with Tesco and the £5 good will gesture they offered me.
