Hi Folks, anyone help me here.
Due to the adverse weather were having Tesco cancelled my home food delivery, but today, they still took the cash out of my account for this?
Am I entitled to any compensation for this? Obviously their customer service centre is shut till Boxing Day.
Thanks

It hasnt actually been taken out , should take up to 10 days to go back into it to be available.
They need a signature to fully transfer , had the same problem with asda once and was left skint for a week and no food.
Compensation , no way.
Find a manhole to fall in maybe ?0 -

Not very helpful you two and also extremely rude. Really no need for it and
certainly not in the spirit of the boards. Shame on you both.
OP, the money will be returned to you. Can you use a credit card etc till then.
Dont think you will be allowed any compensation, But nothing wrong with asking
(nicely)
Just go and do your shopping by foot, and vote for them with your feet, and shop at Sainsburys/Morrisons in future.
Good luckmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
My Sainsbury's delivery was cancelled on Monday and the money taken out of my account as they had picked the order earlier in the day. Called them and they said all cancelled deliveries were refunded the next day and the money would be back in my account in 3-5 working days. Received a confirmation email to that effect yesterday.
But compensation??? Shouldn't think so, it's hardly their fault the weather has been bad (and it has been bad here). If swimming is good for your figure, can someone please explain whales?0 -

Not strickly true, Tesco charge for the items in the store as they are ran through the check out. If they knew in advance they could not deliver and have not picked the shopping you won't be charged, However if they thought they could and have ran it through, it will have to be refunded back.
However agree with the "compensation, no way". Why should they compensate you it's not there fault the weather is that bad they can't get to you :rolleyes:0 -
I really think MSE should block the word compensation in the same way that it does swear words. For some reason it really gets people's backs up and changes the way they respond to civil questions0

Maybe these kind of stores should change their payment procedures.
Say I ordered a shop to come on the 23rd Dec and it didn't arrive, how the hell would I be able to get another shop from elsewhere, if my money is tied up in X company and I'm waiting days for them to refund me? (Lets assume that that was all the money I had and I have no CC's)
I can see where these people are coming from when they get annoyed over it.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

I don't think anybody could predict how bad the weather was going to be this year.
I am actually surprised that Terry Leahy (or Michael O'Leary?) haven't been blamed for the weather!Gone ... or have I?0 -

They dont have to refund you, they don't take the money. It's "reserved". It remains in your account and i think the time lapse is more to do with the bank, or so i have heard.
You have a one sided view on this, do you expect Tesco drivers to risk driving in this weather so the likes of you and OP can get there brussel sprouts. Or maybe you do. Tesco cannot control the weather, its not as if its ideal for them, after all they lose the business of the OP, there fore this situation is lose lose and both parties lose equally.Back by no demand whatsoever.0
