  • So, they take the cash out of my accvount, hang onto it for a week to 10 days, and keep the interest, even tho they cancelled trhe order.

    I spent the cash i was going to spend on the tesco order else where, but they take the money off me anyweays, earning interest in the meantime on MY money.

    As a matter of interest how much interest do you think you may have lost because of this?

    you are asking the wrong question, look at it the other way, just how much interest will Tesco make on ALL the cancelled deliveries?

    Every little helps........Tesco (not the customer).

    Interest......get a grip for christ sake!
    Even if your shop was MASSIVE, how much interest do you think would accrue over a few days.

    I realise its awkward for you, but you are being incredibly stupid with your claims.
    I'm actually starting to feel embarrasses on your behalf.

    I believe you may be wrong about this. The process for Tesco Home Shopping is:

    Shopping is picked, scanned using the mobile computers (Teampads) and packed;

    The info on the Teampad is downloaded to the server and this automatically starts the checkout process;

    The payment is taken using the card info provided by the customer. This is exactly as it would be if the customer was in-store;

    At the end of the picking shift, the orders are loaded onto the vans and (hopefully) delivered;

    I agree with the people that said that there should be a different system, so that if your order cannot be delivered, your money is not tied up in limbo for a few days. Some people have very tight budgets and this can cause a lot of problems. However, if your order has been cancelled, it will still have been picked so if you could get to the store you could pick it up from there.

    Tesco probably only have some of your money. It is highly likely that the bank have a 'security' on Tesco card payments.

    This means that they get paid around 80% of the value of the transaction in 2 to 5 days from the bank.

    They get the other 20%, usually about 6 months down the line. The bank hold on to this amount in case a company had a problem (such as bankruptcy) and they have a chunk of money to refund customers under the Section 75 customer protection.

    When they refund you, the bank take the full amount back from Tesco within a few days.

    In other words, Tesco could well be out of pocket by 20% of your transaction for 6 months. Are you going to pay them interest?

    It is also likely that if they have processed your card, they will not get the % fee charged by the banks back. So actually, they will be out of pocket.
  • Put it this way, at least Tesco valued the employees safety over that of profits! Any persons shopping is not worth putting somebody's life in jeopardy!
