What a waste: M&S

Just went to M&S and saw some lobster platters for £45. The sell-by date is 26 December. I asked if they would reduce them. I was told no because someone had made a mistake with the order and not put it on the 'to be reduced list'. So I asked what was going to happen to the platters: they were going to be thrown out.
There were several items with expiry dates of 24 December reduced by only a pound. They obviously weren't going to shift. I was told again, they would be binned.
What a waste of food.

They should give it to the homeless. It really is a disgrace.0

maybe it will be sold to the staff as part of the waste..
I used to work in M&S as a saturday girl and the staff shop used to have bargains0 -
Yes, it will be sold to staff, I work there and they hold a staff sale on xmas eve after the shop shuts to get rid of all the orders that haven't been collected etc. Never been myself though but I imagine that's what will happen to those lobster platters.0

Maybe one of the staff had their eye on them so would be reduced just for the staff? Good for 'em I think?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.
