What a waste: M&S

Just went to M&S and saw some lobster platters for £45. The sell-by date is 26 December. I asked if they would reduce them. I was told no because someone had made a mistake with the order and not put it on the 'to be reduced list'. So I asked what was going to happen to the platters: they were going to be thrown out.

There were several items with expiry dates of 24 December reduced by only a pound. They obviously weren't going to shift. I was told again, they would be binned.

What a waste of food.

They should give it to the homeless. It really is a disgrace.

Yes, it will be sold to staff, I work there and they hold a staff sale on xmas eve after the shop shuts to get rid of all the orders that haven't been collected etc. Never been myself though but I imagine that's what will happen to those lobster platters.

Years ago they used to give them to local charity but it got stopped, I think due to H&S reasons or at least that was the case with the one nearest to me.

Maybe one of the staff had their eye on them so would be reduced just for the staff? Good for 'em I think?

I could fill a trolley to over flowing with luxury goods and it still only be a few hundred quid at the most
Maybe 'over a thousand pounds worth' is a teeeennny weeeeny bit of an over exaggeration ?;):D
