morning all :j:j:j:j very excited here, not a drop of snow though, and its quite mild, got the windows open to let in some fresh air.

Today we need to have a good tidy through, the three of us can do that so it wont take us long, I also need to do the leeks and sprouts and get the carrots out of the freezer.

OH is up stairs wrapping his presents :T, dd has two to wrap too, and I need to pop to the local shop, my bil's sister is a last moment guest for lunch, she has downs syndrome, and has specifically told me that she wants pink fizzy wine and some chocs for her present :D

I need to get my bil's gift from the loft, its a bird table, and no I will not be wrapping it

I also need to find the packed slow cooker and timer ready to start the turkey off on the early hours, I cook it for several hours in the sc and finish off in the oven, keeps it nice and moist this way.

Tea tonight is a help your self type of buffet, will have to do it early though as dd is off out with her dad to see her brothers. Then I will open a bottle of fizz and sit back and relax

For those not coming on tomorrow I hope you have a great Christmas, enjoy yourself and dont stress too much, its only turkey :D

Pink please pass my Christmas wishes onto Haribo, tell her I shall be raising a glass to her tonight, I hope your dd is back safe and sound xx

Smoky and Cranky, thinking of you and your familys xx

    Have good days all xx
  • It's very cold here today, I've got the fires lit AND the heating on but still it doesn't feel warm. Probably me being nesh

I've nothing to do today really, I could do with popping to the local shop to get some washing up liquid as we have one wash left in the bottle. Although, I do have a dishwasher so it's not THAT desperate.

I've had bubble and squeak for brunch today and have ordered a belly pork joint that should be on it's way from Abel & Cole. It should be here early enough that I can slow roast it as we won't be eating until late tonight; MrS is on a late shift.

I'm hoping to go to mass tonight; I've never been and have wanted to for the past few years but never got round to it. As I'm not a regular church goer I think it will be quite special and am actually looking forward to it.

I might be a good daughter and pick my mum up and take her to work at lunchtime. She doesn't drive and it's so cold she might actually freeze on the walk in. I can have a sneaky look at her new stock then too before it goes on sale to the masses ;)

    Morning peeps

    Merry Christmas to everyone :xmassign::xmastree:

My body clock is still a bit out, i was up at 2am peeling sprouts :o i feel ready for a nap now but have to wait a while as i`ve got the turkey breast joint cooking ready for tomorrow. I was about to make the stuffing too but discovered that DH has taken all the bread to work with him so i`ve popped the breadmaker on, when it`s finished i shall crumb the loaf and put it back on again for french bread and some rolls later.

We have had lots of snow here the last few days and another couple of inches fell in the night, i had to dig the car out first thing as little oldie had a trip to the vets, we rushed him there a couple of days ago as he has scratched his eyeball on one of the branches from the Christmas tree. We were very worried about it at first but it is now much better, the vet put the dye into his eye this morning and the biggest part has healed and its not bothering him too much now so thats a big relief. He has some ointment that we need to put in his eye regularly and he has had some injections so all is well.

The houndies have had a smashing time in all the snow :D its fantastic to see them enjoying themselves and happy, i hope that neither of them remember what a horrible life they had before we adopted them. We have lots of food to take to the doggie rescue at some point but i doubt that we shall get there in the next day or two due to the snow and the rescue is at the bottom of a very steep hill, it`s all packed up and ready to go though as soon as the weather permits.

Christmas eve will be a quiet one this year, we shall be sitting by the fireside with all the animals all warm and cosy. Dad is coming for Christmas dinner tomorrow, we usually take him to the pub on Christmas eve but are giving that a miss this year, its not worth the risk of being stuck out unable to get home and Dad struggles to walk on a normal day so this is probably the best idea. When DH finished work we shall go and visit and take the pressies over for him.

Dsis has just called around and we have exchanged gifts, my only regret today is that i shall not be able to see Mum before Christmas, we haven`t exchanged gifts yet but they can wait. Mum is poorly with a bad cold type virus and hasn`t left the house for a few days now, she can talk a bit but not for very long so i shall give her a call later to see if she`s any better. It`s not really a good idea for her to visit and vice versa once again due to the amount of snow and i`m not a confident motorway driver in normal conditions.

I have lots to do and just feel very lazy atm :D once i`ve had a nap i`ll probably have a bit more energy, i`m feeling hungry so may have a peek in the fridge shortly too. The garden is full of birds :D we have robins too which is lovely and a pair of doves are sitting on the fence waiting their turn, i`ve cleared the snow away from the bottom of the bird table so that the bigger birdies won`t go hungry and scattered bread, nuts and seed, sultanas and pieces of apple on the floor too so they should all be well fed. The water keeps freezing but i keep nipping out with the kettle every few hours to check that the water is ok.

Well i seem to have written a bit more than i intended :o sorry to ramble.

I`m off back into the kitchen for a bit.

Cranky & George and Smoky too - Thinking of you (((HUGS)))

NicLou - Glad to hear that you are home for Christmas

Diva - May your Christmas remain pain free!

Hugs n stuff for everyone, keep warm and safe and have a fantastic Christmas. :snow_grin:rudolf::xmassmile

Morning.Turkey is in,gammon is boiling as we 'speak'.We've set the table ready for tomorrow,my brother and family are coming over around 3.30.

DH set off to get his haircut at 8.30,and still sn't back, but I just had a call from our friends who live a mile up an unmade road and apparently he is just digging himself off the drive! He forgot his mobile too,but never said he was calling there,so not sure what time he'll be back.

DSons have taken the snowboard to a golf course where one of their friends works-he said he'll push some snow with one of the machines so its thicker and they can practice, well DS2 is teaching DS1.

Main roads are not too bad, side ones still slippy, but its a lot warmer. We are off to our fave pub later on this afternoon, yearly tradition when we meet up with a few friends.

If I don't get on tomorrow I want to wish every one HSseason.pngand a lovely day.

Morning all...............(((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) if you need one.

Christmas is well underway here, ham and turkey both cooked, turkey cooling ready to slice later; trifle base made, bread sauce made, just managed to rescue it before it caught.

Oven pans have been given their christmas treat in the dish washer, should be nice and clean now.

Spent most of last night trying to link up a new laptop to the internet, could not remember the blasted pass word, we had to change it when we changed over to Sky. Nice kind chap on the Techie board told me how to do it, and did not shout at me when I did not understand what he was on about!!! I hope he has a lovely Christmas!!!

Omelette and salad for supper tonight. OH is bust fitting meals round things he wants to watch on TV......very cold here, we have trecherous road conditions a lot of crashes and the M1 was closed south of us. I hope DS2 is ok he had to go to Carnforth this morning with a delivery. I know he is a big boy now, 40 next year but I do worry about him when the weather is bad. He drives one of those huge tractor units with a trailer.

Well OH has just retired to bed with 'DO' I really am very fed up, its been 18 months and we are no nearer finding out what the problem is or if there is anything that can be done about it!!! I just hope the new bloke we are going to see on 6th Jan has some suggestions. It is causing a lot of stress to both fof us.

Time to get myself some lunch, bread and cheese I think, will be hab=ving enough rich food over the next few days......

Have a wonderful Christmas all of you, I hope everyone who is travelling to be with loved ones arrives safely.

    Good afternoon all.

A quick visit today, as I have a fair bit to do.

Found it difficult getting up this morning, so DD sorted out medication and a cup of tea for me. Then DDs opened theri christmas eve presents while I was in bed waiting for the tablets to start working. Thankfully, I wasn't too bad when I did get up.

Anyway, we're having our christmas dinner today, so the turkey went in at 11 o'clock, and I've prepared everything else, apart from the parsnips, which I need to sort in a bit.

DD1 has come out in a rash on her stomach and back. I'm keeping an eye on it as we have no idea what it could be. Lots of little red spots that are very itchy

Family were supposed to be coming down today, but due to the rash, we have cancelled to be on the safe side, so pretty quiet day really.

    Looking forward to dinner.

One of DDs presents was a wii game, so we will be playing on that this afternoon, along with the board games I bought.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

Will pop back later, but in case I don't get the chance, wishing everyone a very merry christmas.

Chris - I love Jaquie Lawsons e-cards - I just like to view them to get into the festive spirit :o

Yea, me too, Bitsy. Showed the website to my 4 year old (as she was then) DGD last Christmas and she absolutely loved them, getting me to click on each thing to make something else appear!!

    Afternoon all.

Well, Mr LW's office is closing at 15:00 this afternoon, so he'll be home early. He's on call for the next 4 days (just entails doing the early morning checks, and fixing anything that goes wrong with the systems - all from home) and on early shift Tuesday, so will be w*rking from home then, too. It does mean I might not get online, but it's lovely to have him here with me.:j

He's asked for similar dinner tomorrow to what we had for Solstice - ie HM nut loaf and roasted root veg. There's only the two of us, so it's really very easy.;)

Unfortunately I'm heading into a lupus flare - having trouble staying awake for more than a couple of hours at a stretch, and my hands and legs are painful enough that the air in Concrete Cow Country is bright blue; but Mr LW's offered to prep the veggies for tomorrow, and if I'm lucky, I can blag him into making egg'n'chips for dins later today.

It must've been warmer last night, as the birds had liquid water in their bowl this morning, rather than a "lollipop". I've put more seed out, and there's a wood pigeon noshing away as I type!:p

I'm glad people liked my poem yesterday - I wrote it a good few years ago, and it's the first time I've had both an excuse and the courage to give it an airing!:D

Whatever you're doing this holiday weekend, have a good one; ((((HUGS)))) for all who want/need one today.:xmastree:
