Morning. We got quite a bit of snow overnight, and it is still snowing at the moment. The children are playing wii fit plus (definitely worth the upgrade). OH read food mag in toilet and just told me he likes the idea of parsnips in maple syrup and mustard ... just as well, it was already on the menu! We have masses of food and wine, and only need to go out to get a prescription for OH, and a battery recharger (going through a lot!). I may pick up something pretty to decorate the table. I need to do some work-work this afternoon, as I have a big freelance project due on 23 Jan.

Really loving the snow. It doesn't matter whether it snows tomorrow, it's been several days of time off with the children with pretty snow. I call that a white christmas. It is their first one and the first I have had since I don't know when (we were in New Zealand from 1985-2005), and it is just scrumptious. Would be a problem if we had to drive anywhere, but we don't. Would be a problem if anyone was trying to visit us, but they're not.

    Happy christmas everyone.

    :xmassmile Morning everyone,:rudolf:

Well Santa is on his way here :p It's nearly 7pm atm. Just had tea and about to hit the shower. Had some good rain in the morning but it came back pretty humid after that but luckily I got all my baking done when it was cooler. DH brought home a huge box of mangoes he was given. I can't stand them so if anybody wants any put your hand up. :D

I hope you all enjoy Christmas. We are calling DGS in the morning as with both our boys. They have to work. So we will be having another celebration in January before we go away. DH just called out to me we are forecast for rain tomorrow. :T :D Thank you Santa.

<hugs> to Cranky & Smokeybabe. Thinking of you both. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning

It's three years ago today that a dear old friend of mine died from leukemia. Christmas eve has held a hint of sadness since. I spent a few minutes earlier remembering him and then its was time to pull the zip closed on that so it doesn't taint the rest of the day. As a serving soldier death was part of daily life for him and his motto was 'Live fast; Die laughing' and he did live his life fast!! So today my thoughts are with his family and everyone who is missing someone today xx

Anyway - I have a stinking cold!! just been to asda and got the last of what I needed including a bottle of Southern Comfort...purely medicinal you understand...;)

Pork shoulder is in the slow cooker, turkey joint in defrosting and just got a lovely piece of beef YS'd so that and the gammon should do us all for tomorrow and boxing day when we have a 'picnic' tea.

I have enough food to feed a small army and enough booze to get them all... inebriated :D I love the sight of a full fridge!

The DS's are down getting their hair cut and they are going to Tesco's for beer when they get back and DS1 is working 1-9 today and I'll be glad when he's home - its still -2 here!

MSD - I love the night before christmas - the twins had the book when they were small and i read it so many times I knew it. Still gives me excitabubbles!!

I'm going to prep the veg this afternoon and wrap the twins clothes up (they've bought them all with money I give them but they still like them wrapped to open on christmas morning lol) and then everywhere just needs straightening up as DH and DS1 cleaned through yesterday while I was at work.

    So I think I am 98% ready.....bring Christmas on!!

Hope everyone has the best Christmas they can have

  • Good morning all except Aussie, good evening :D

I'm walking on air at the moment :D Two special delivery packages which should have been delivered on the 22nd, but were held up by bad weather in Glasgow, are now out for delivery and should be with me soon :j:j:j Well done Royal Mail :T I was stressing about them, despite knowing it didn't really matter if they arrived late, I'd still have my family home :o I'm ready now, ready or not iyswim. No more shopping, just a quick tidy through then let the festivities commence :D

I don't expect I'll get on tomorrow, so Christmas wishes to all. I'll probably skype with Canada at some point tomorrow mioliere. I agree, it really makes a difference. And Diva, I can still recite "twas the night before........... hundreds of years after I first learned it :rotfl::rotfl:

Must put some OS in :o Making yet more mince pies in a minute. Oh for a freezer big enough to store some, still DH says they're nicer freshly baked each time ;):D

Special thoughts and ((hugs)) for Cranky and George, this will be a hard Christmas for you.

((hugs)) to all the ill or worried, hope you find some peace and happiness. CMx

  • Good Morning everyone , I am just about to start a marathon sausage roll making session for my two DDs . All of my grandchildren love my little sausage rolls as I sprinkle a touch of herbs on the sausage meat before folding them down and when brushed with egg I also dip in grated cheese. probably very unhealthy but they all like them so I make around 6-7 dozen to share between them all. This afternoon I am going with the littlest grandchildren to the cinema as it is a family tradition to see a real daft movie on Christmas Eve, means the Mums can get on with the prep for tomorrow.Tonight I shall be staying at my eldesy DDs, then tomorrow after present opening I go to my youngest DDs for another round of pressies opening, and the little ones show me what Santa has left them in their sack. Mikey, my youngest DGS at five and a half is virtually bursting with excitement already. Tomorrow night we are all back to my eldest's house for a big family get-together. then I shuttle back to the youngests house again on Boxing day. I spend most of the next 4-5 days to-ing and fro-ing between the two houses.Luckily they are within two miles of my house. I shall be home next Tuesday for a rest for a day or two until New Year when the shuttling starts all over again.
I do hope everyone here has a wonderful Christmas and we all raise a glass to the folk who aren't with us, for whatever reason, on Christmas Day.
Another year has gone by, and we have all had our triumphs and our sadness's.
I will raise mine to all of you and wish all of you a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
    God Bless all here

    :santa2: Good morning all!

jc2703 Your twins are like our DS - he's 24 and wanted a set of electrician's screwdrivers for Christmas so he went and bought the ones he wanted, told DH how much they were, DH gave him the money back and now they have to be wrapped so we can give them back to him tomorrow :D I like your friend's motto :)

Bitsy - Glad you have had some proper snow!

nic1lou2 - Hooray, you're home for Christmas! And as Bargainbird said, let's hope it's third time lucky.

taplady - So sorry Janet is still poorly - she must be so fed up :( The same thing happened to one of my friends but she's ok now thankfully.

Smokybabe and CRANKY - Thinking of you especially xxxx

LameWolf - Glad you enjoyed Solstice. I was thinking of you!

AussieLass - Hope you get plenty of Christmas rain!

Pink_winged - I trust DD is now safely home :j

Penny_pincher - Don't know if you'll see this, but you and your family are being very much thought of. I hope you have a good time at your friends' :rudolf:
